Basic Characteristics of Oil-Gas Resource in Tarim Basin

Oil-gas forming geological historical condition in Tarim Basin is complicated.A great variety of oil-gas,from either marine or continental deposit,with different maturity,formed in different geological stage and preserved in various condition,are all occurred in it. There are two sets of source rocks,marine Paleozoic source rock and continental Meso-Cenozoic source rock.It is considered by hydrocarbon source correlation that Ordovician and Carboniferous are the best source rocks of marine Paleozoic sequence,and Triassic and Jurassic source rocks are the first-rate of the latter one.The key reservoirs are Carboniferous,Triassic,Cretaceous and Miocene.For reservoir rocks,the dolomite is the most important and limestone is the second in Paleozoic sequence.And sandstone is the most favorable for Meso- Cenozoic reservoirs.There are 6 types of pool-forming Patterns in the basin.
