Detection of prawn white spot baculovirus by polymerase chain reaction

A prawn baculovirus has been responsible for most of the serious shrimp disease in China since 1992.Studies on the pathology,pathogenesis and morphology of the virus showed that it was a non-occlusion body baculovirus which could infect Penaeus japonicus,P.monoelon,P.chinesis,P.peniczllatus (wang et al.,1996;Peng et al.,1995) and gave rise to obvious white spots on the inside surface of the cuticle.Thus,the prawn baculovirus was called prawn white spot baculovirus (PWSBV).
