Abstract:The Nanlao Cu-W deposit, a newly-discovered ore deposit, is located in the northwestern periphery of the Laojunshan granite body. Its proved Cu and W reserves have reached the middle scale, as evidenced by recent exploration. The Cu and W mineralization occurs near the interbedded detachment faults between Xinzhai Formation and Nanlao gneiss. The ore bodies are mainly hosted in the wall rocks which experienced alterations such as silicification and skarnization. The geological and geochemical characteristics of the ore deposit suggest that the mineralization of the ore deposit was mainly controlled by Yanshanian granites, strata and detachment faults, and the ore-forming materials might have been mainly derived from Yanshanian and Caledonian granites. It is held that the formation of this ore deposit was related to the multiphase tectonism-magmatism. In addition, the ore-prospecting direction in Laojunshan area is pointed out in this paper.
