| Abstract: | A study of the metallic lines in bright quiescent prominences indicates that the optical thickness in the K line of Ca ii may reach values as high as 103. This is about 10 times larger than the optical thickness in the H line and may explain some peculiarities of the H and K lines in solar prominences. |
