Age and correlation of the Bantou Formation in Fujian

Some Jurassic and Cretaceous faunas and floras were discovered from several basins in Fujian, which may be correlated with those from the Jurassic and Cretaceous of Zhejiang.The Jurassic and Cretaceous strata in Fujian may be divided ascendingly into the following units: Upper Cretaceous Chishan Group, Shaxian Formation; Middle and Late Cretaceous Shimaoshan Group (including Jishan Formation or Hekou Formation and Bantou Formation), Douling Group (including lower Lower Cretaceous Xiaoxi Formation and Upper Jurassic Julan Formation, Nanyuan Formation and Changlin Formation).The boundary between Jurassic-Cretaceous continental sediments should lie between the Xiaoxi and Julan Formations in Fujian.
