中国地层指南简介

《中国地层指南及中国地层指南说明书》是《中国地层规范草案》的修改草案,由尹赞教勋授领导的一个小组起草。经过第二届全国地层会议讨论,第二届全国地层委员会修订,中华人民共和国国家科学技术委员会批准,由科学出版社出版。

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION ON "STRATIGRAPHIC GUIDE OF CHINA"

A preliminary draft of the revised version of the Stratigraphic Code of China was prepared in 1978 by the Working Group for the Revision of the Stratigraphic Code of China composed of Yin Zhanxun,Fan Jiasong,Zhang Ridong,Sun Yiyin,Xie Cuihua and the author,all from Institute of Geology,Academia Sinica.A second draft of the revised version and its explanation were submitted to the 2nd All-China Stratigraphic Congress in November,1979.After a revision of the 2nd All-China Stratigraphic Commission,the revised edition of the Stratigraphic Code of China and its explanation discussed in the 2nd All-China Stratigraphic Congress,Beijing,Nov.1979,has been ratified and officially termed as the "Stratigraphic Guide of China and its Explanation" by the State Scientific and Technological Commission of the People’s Republic of China on July 25,1980.It was published by the Science Press,Beijing in April,1981.The "Stratigraphic Guide of China" consists of 7 chapters which involve 73 articles with 11,000 Chinese characters,3 tables and 1 figure.Chapter Ⅰ.GENERAL CONCEPTS Concerning with the concept of some general technical terms on stratigraphy in the guide.The purpose is to give the readers some general knowledge of basic concept of the guide before they are going on the following chapters,meanwhile repetition can be avoided and the printed pages in the following chapters are reduced.This chapter is composed of 8 articles,defining the meaning of stratigraphy,strata,stratigaphic classification,Stratigraphic unit,Stratigraphic terminology,Stratigraphic nomenclature,stratotype and Stratigraphic correlation respectively.Chapter Ⅱ.CATEGORIES OF STRATIGRAPHIC CLASSIFICATION Introducing the plan of concrete classification for the guide and the basic concepts of categories of classification and the differences among them.In this chapter,three main kinds of Stratigraphic classification are summarized: lithostratigraphic classification,biostratigraphic Classification and chronostratigraphic classification.Chapter Ⅲ.LITHOSTRATIGRAPHIC UNITS Introducing the definition,category,term ranks and usage of lithostratigraphic unit.Lithostratigraphic unit is the most practical,useful and important for regional stratigraphy.There are 8 ariticles in this chapter,recommending the definition of lithostratigraphic unit,the formal lithostratigraphic units-group,formation,member,bed and their boundaries,extension and correlation respectively. Chapher Ⅳ.BIOSTRATIGRAPHIC UNITS It is composed of 6 articles,introducing the definition and categories-assemblage zone,range-zone,acme-zone of biostratigraphic units.Two other types of range-zone,the concurrent-range-zone and Oppel-zone are reported in this chapter.ChapterⅤ.CHRONOSTRATIGRAPHIC UNITS It is one of the most important stratigraphic units.This chapter is composed of 8 articles,introducing the definition and ranks of the chronostratigraphic unit-eonothem,erathem,system,series,stage and chronzone respectively.In 3-8 paragraphs,the terms of geochronological unit corresponding with each of chronostratigraphic unit,are incidentally mentioned.Chapter Ⅵ.THE TEMPORARY PROVISION FOR STRATIGRAPHIC NOMENCLATURE It involves rules and regulation on nomenclature procedure and special names of each stratigraphic unit as well as special management for the usage of terminology.It is established on the basis of the previous code and explanation,summarizing the absorbed positive and negative experiences practised home and abroad in the last twenty years,and based on the principle of the logic of science and the concept of multiple stratigraphic classification.It is somewhat forced regulation to a certain degree.It will lead to confusion if the regulation is not followed.There are 34 articles in this chapter.The contents of the latter six articles are the supplemental requirements on establishing a subsurface stratigraphic unit.The last chapter,THE DEFINITION OF THE SYMBOLES OF CHRONOSTRATIGRAPHIC UNIT The explanation of this guide is a supplement for clear and simple introduction and elucidation of the articles in guide and of the names, condidons, problems and background of some articles in the guide, which need to be explained and illustrated. The parallel of the chapters between the explanation and wide other than the sections, depends on the needs of their contents. For instance there are 8 articles in chapter Ⅰ, but in the explanation, it is only explained as "characteristics and attributes of strata" in first section;"rock strata and strata" in 2nd section;"unit-stratotype and boundary-stratotype" in 7th section;"prublems on implication in stratiyraphic correlation" in 8th section.The most preceeding in the explanation is the preface, introducing the background and members of the working group, the processes and the directing principle of drafting this guide and its explanation.
