Abstract:
Solvent extraction is a potential industrialized technology for boron recovery from brine. The core of extraction separation lies in the selection of extractant. Extraction of boron in acidified brine from East Taijinar Salt Lake was investigated by using isooctanol and hydroxyl functionalized ionic liquid 1-hydroxyethyl-3-methylimidazole bis((trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl) imide ([HOEMIm]NTf2) as mixed extractant, butylacetate as diluent. The experimental conditions including volume fraction of [HOEMIm]NTf2, phase ratio, extraction time, extraction temperature, pH of acidified brine, saturated extraction capacity, pH of stripping agent, stripping phase ratio and stripping extraction stages were investigated. At the suitable conditions, the extraction efficiency of boron can reach 99.3% with three stages extraction, the saturated extraction capacity is 28.9 g·L-1 (calculated by H3BO3), and the three stages stripping extraction rate is 99.7%. Besides, the extraction system has low emulsification and good cycling performance.
