| Abstract: | In this paper, the structure of montmorillonite, the requirement of highly radioactive waste geological repository and the function of buffer/backfilling material in handling highly radioactive wastes are introduced. The properties of Gaomiaozi bentonite are studied. So the Gaomiaozi bentonite deposit located in Xinghe County, Inner Mongolia could be regarded as the supply base of buffer/backfilling material for highly radioactive wastes geological repository. |
