广州信息服务业增长的地域类型分析

THE SPATIAL PATTERN OF GROWTH OF INFORMATION-INTENSIVESERVICES IN GUANGZHOU

Through the cluster analysis method based on the census data of tertiary sector, the spatial patterns of growth of information-intensive services in Guangzhou from 1984 to 1992 are analysed. The aim was mainly to find the spatial change of urban information-intensive services under the background of the industrialization of information technology and the upgrading of industrial structure, and providing the theoretical basis for the rational distribution and development of information-intensive services. Three spatial types and seven subtypes of growth of information-intensive services were differentiated. They were: rapid growth type (I) which was sub-divided into rapid and relatively rapid growth types, slow growth type (II) which was sub-divided into slow growth types with a high level base and a low level base, and relatively rapid growth type with a low level base, and fluctuating growth type (III) which was sub-divided into two sub-types with decreasing employment but rapid increasing value, and with decreasing employment but slight increasing value. Type I was the most important one in all types. It is mainly distributed in the central area of the city, of which sub-type Ia formed several growth cores and their compositions of sectors and roles differed from each other, which not only constituted the multi-core spatial pattern of information-intensive service growth of the city but also determined the spatial pattern and function structure of Guangzhou. The analysis results also showed that the information-intensive services of Guangzhou spatially expended eastwards (main direction) and northwestwards, which accorded with the strategy of developing the tertiary sector greatly and urban planning. The spatial pattern of growth of information-intensive services undoubtedly would have great impact on the urban spatial structure.
