Abstract:We investigated the effects of temperature, luminosity, photoperiod, and diet on spawning, hatching, and larvae rearing of anemonefish Premnas biaculeatus. When the temperature was 26 °C, with a photoperiod of 14L:10D, the luminosity of 500 lx and 2 000 lx had no different effects on spawning interval and fertilization, but showed obvious effects on the development of fertilized eggs. The time of hatching was longer and the hatching rate was lower with lower larvae survival under 500 lx. Twenty-six 26°C was showed to be a suitable temperature to spawning, hatching, and larvae rearing. But the hatching rate and larvae survival decreased and the spawning interval delayed when the temperature was 24°C. PUFA-enriched broodstock diet was required for high hatching rate and husky larvae, and PUFA-enriched Brachionus plicatilis was necessary for larvae growth.
