| Abstract: | The definition of the geoid is introduced. After glancing over the progress in the field of the geoid evaluation study, the Stokes-Helmert method is outlined and its trick coping with inadequate knowledge of topographical density is stressed, also the significance of downward continuation is addressed. Finally the prospect on the geodetic boundary value problem study is looked forward. |
