CURRENT TOPICS ABOUT HOTSPOT

This paper introduces some topics about the hotspots.There exist both hot an not so hot,both dry and wet,both exposed and waiting-to-be exposed,both chemical and thermal hotspots.The hotspot and plume theory is very important for us to recognize the earthstructure and the movement of the earth material,for the theory of plate tectonics mainly relates to the top of the earth,but the hotspot originates from the deep mantle.Therefore,thehotspot and plume theory provides a new mechanism for the vertical movement of the earthmaterial.It has already made advances in explaining the continental flood basalt,the massextinctions,the change of global climate,the submarine landslide,and the ancient land rebuilding.This article also points out that there are still many problems about hotspots whichneed to be studied further.
