| Abstract: | Existing automated methods for the determination of ammonia in natural waters suffer from serious ‘salt error’ in estuaries because of changes in pH, ionic strength and optical properties with salinity. A modified automated indophenol blue method is described which minimizes the ‘salt error’ to less than 8% over the entire salinity of estuaries. |
