N.A. Bogoslovskii and his role in the development of ideas on the age of the Ryazanian horizon and the lower cretaceous stratigraphy of Central Russia

Nikolai Andreevich Bogoslovskii (1862–1914) was a well-known soil scientist and geologist, who studied the Upper Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous deposits of Central Russia. He was the first scientist to distinguish the Ryazanian horizon and correlate it with the Berriasian deposits of Western Europe. He proposed the Lower Cretaceous stratigraphic scheme which was accepted by most Russian geologists.
