Abstract: | Nature-friendly river training measures to restore streams to their natural appearance can significantly alter their hydraulic and bed load transport behavior. A systematic theory is however still lacking. By means of laboratory experiments the present paper discussed the initial motion of the bed sand as well as the bed load transport behavior of the rivers with nature-friendly bed works. An experimental formula, based on the dimensional analysis and the regression analysis of the flume data, was presented for the evaluation of bed load transport. |
