Abstract:
The advantage of astronomical fiber optical spectroscopy system and its performances of the 2.16m telescope at the Beijing Astronomical Observatory (BAO) as well as some typical results obtained by this fiber system are described in this paper.The working systems include single-object all-fiber-coupler (AFC system) and multi-object fiber system ("Spider" system). The AFC system can found all functions requiring for observations: acquisition, guiding, transmission and calibration. As it is as small as a finger, it can be easily attached onto any focal plane of any telescopes. The "spider" system has 20 fiber probes which are positioned with Blink Comparator according to the original plate taken at the telescoper or a paper target field printed w th laser printer. The fiber probe includes a tiny pristn which is glued with the imput end of the fiber with optical epoxy and assembled inside a button which a small magnet is glued on its bottom. The method positioning fiber on star plate is easier and cheaper than that on dirll-star plate.The fiber systems have been completed in he end of 1989 and operated successfully at the 2.16m telescope.
