Abstract: | The ecological and environmental impact of sediment transport, erosion and deposition, has become one of the main concerns while large-scale engineering works are implemented. The paper discusses the impact through a case study of Shenzhen Bay in South China where a reclamation work is under considerations. The variation of sediment erosion and deposition due to the reclamation causes ecological environmental problems to two natural reserves. Planning a new coastal line in the bay is studied for the reclamation to harmonize the sensitive ecosystem. |
