广州山水格局及其保护

广州“山水”的概念,不应仅仅理解为“云山珠水”。从越秀山、白云山起,向东北绵延200km的山脉,以及相辅的山丘台地,构成广州山的格局;广州的水,除了珠江以外,还应包括众多的河涌、湖泊、沼泽、滩涂等湿地。这些山地和湿地,对于广州的生态环境有十分重要的作用。保护和合理利用广州优越的山水条件,是建设现代化山水城市的必然要求。

PROTECTION OF THE MOUNTAINS AND WATERS OF GUANGZHOU

A mountain range extends two hundred kilometers from the north of Guangzhou city to the border between Guangdong and Jiangxi Provinces, while a large area of wetlands, including the river network, lakes, ponds, marshes, and beaches, are distributed in the south of the city. They are like a beautiful landscape painting, and constitute good Feng shui for Guangzhou. However, because of artificial and natural reasons, the mountains and waters in Guangzhou were /have been damaged: a large area of mountains were deforested that resulted in soil erosion, tens of quarries on hills were constructed that uglified the city landscape, the marshes have almost been changed into urban area, the ancient city moats have been covered and turned into underground drainage or transformed into elevated roads, the Pearl River in the city has been narrowed, water pollution has been serious, and the beaches of the Pearl estuary have been overexploited. Great attention should be paid to the protection, better management and rational use of the mountains and wetlands in Guangzhou as they are very important for the ecological environment and the development of the city.
