Abstract:The fluvial processes of a wandering stretch are very complicated. One-dimensional mathematical model can not reflect the planar characteristics of erosion and sedimentation of wandering stretches. As a trial, a two-dimensional mathematical model for studying the fluvial processes of erosion and sedimentation of a wandering stretch in the Lower Yellow River has been developed in this paper. To suit the varied and curved river boundaries in the wandering reach, Boundary-Fitted Coordinate System and the skill of movable boundary are applied. The stretch between Gubaizui and Zheng zhou railway bridge has been studied. The typicl water depth, velocity, channel geography, sediment concentration and river deformation were computed and the results werer analysed. The results can reflect basically the main fluvial planar characteristics of the wandering stretch.
