| Abstract: | Summary. The effect of anelasticity on the periods of the Earth's free oscillation (toroidal modes) is examined in the light of several different studies leading to different results. The possibility of discrimination between the different analytic models for the anelasticity of the Earth's interior is discussed. A splitting of the spectral lines caused by Q is also suggested. |
