Abstract:Accurately evaluating the crude oil cracking ratio is important for studying the stability of crude oil,and the distribution of the hydrocarbon phase is usually predicted using the content of diamondoids.However,secondary effects such as gas washing and thermochemical sulfate reduction(TSR)can increase the concentration of diamondoids in crude oil.Based on the analysis of diamondoids in crude oil in the Tarim Basin,this study found that TSR has little effect on diamondoids in the initial stage but can significantly increase the maturity parameter ethyl-adamantane index(EAI).Crude oils from different regions have different distribution trends on the plot of 3-+4-methyl diamantane(3-+4-MD)versus EAI.There were no gas washing or TSR effects on crude oil in the Tabei area,representing the normal crude oil cracking trend.According to the plot of 3-+4-MD verusus EAI,3-+4-MD concentrations can be corrected to eliminate secondary effects.Calculated from the corrected 3-+4-MD concentrations,the ranges of crude oil cracking ratios in Tahe,Halahatang,northwestern part of Tazhong,and southeast Tazhong are 0-44%,0-74%,54%-77%and 56%-90%,respectively.Differences in the burial and thermal histories of the reservoir led to the higher oil cracking degree in the Tazhong area than that in Tabei.
