TECHNIQUES FOR TRANSPORTING BRINE IN THE ANCIENT CHINA

In ancient times, Chinese transported brine in the process of salt making justly by shouldering or other physical ways, but by the Han Dynasty, how brine was delivered started arising in their hearts. Afterwards, the North Dynasty witnessed "introducing brine with bamboo pipes" while the South dynasty saw "Hong", a device to send brine high across streams. Towards the Qing Dynasty, transportation of brine had been decided as a special business when the brine pipes had communications with places far and near in any of saltworks. At that time, segments of bamboo were already designated as key materials for making the brine pipes, firstly run through their joints, then polished at the ends and finally linked them together.
