PREDICTION OF IMPACT OF THE THREE GORGES PROJECT ON ESTUARY BEACH OF THE YANGTZE RIVER

Although the Yangtze River mouth is far away (about 2 000 km) from the Three Gorges Dam, the project will present impact on the lower reaches and the river mouth. Study on the delta channel banks and beaches at the estuary based on topographic data reveals a relationship between the oncoming sediment and erosion deposition of estuary beach, which can be used for estimation of the impacts of the Three Gorges Project on the beach of the estuary.
