| Abstract: | To identify bioproductive zones in the ocean and to assess the intensity of primary production of the organic matter there, a model for the balance analysis of biogenic fields is proposed, which implies the calculation of advective, diffusive, and biochemical components. The model has been validated for an IBM PC/AT-386 in the MS DOS medium (version 3.30). As an example, computed data are provided on the silicic acid balance components in the Antarctic Ocean's euphotic layer during the vegetation period of 1985.
