Outlier trimming and homogeneity checking/correction were performed on the monthly precipitation time series of various lengths from 267 stations in Turkey. Outlier values are usually found during dry summer months, and are concentrated mostly over the southern parts of the country, where the dry period is most pronounced, implying natural extremes rather than wrong measurements. Homogeneity analysis was done using the Standard Normal Homogeneity Test, on an individual monthly basis, which led to many non‐testable series due to lack of reference stations, especially during summer months. Yet, remaining testable months were usually helpful for the assessment of homogenity, revealing a well distributed set of stations that proved to be homogeneous. There were still a number of stations which either could not be tested efficiently, or were classified as inhomogeneous. Lack of metadata is argued to be largely responsible for inefficient homogeneity testing. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

The anomalous X-ray pulsar 4U 0142+61 was recently detected in the mid infrared bands with the SPITZER Observatory (Wang, Chakrabarty and Kaplan: Nature 440, 772 (2006)). This observation is the first instance for a disk around an AXP. From a reanalysis of optical and infrared data, we show that the observations indicate that the disk is likely to be an active disk rather than a passive dust disk beyond the light cylinder, as proposed in the discovering paper. Furthermore, we show that the irradiated accretion disk model can also account for all the optical and infrared observations of the anomalous X-ray pulsars in the persistent state. 相似文献

The aftermath of 2011 Van earthquakes: evaluation of strong motion, geotechnical and structural issues 总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0

October 23rd, 2011 M L 6.7 (M w 7.2 KOERI) Tabanli-Van Earthquake caused damage in a widespread area specifically in the settlement regions throughout the Lake Van. A number of 58 buildings totally collapsed during the shake with 52 of them however, reported to be in Ercis district. 17 days after this destructive event, another earthquake of M L 5.6 hit the region again on the 9th of November having the epicentral location at Edremit district. The second earthquake mostly affected the central region of Van province with a number of 25 totally collapsed buildings and furthermore it significantly increased the existing structural damages. Strong motion records from both earthquakes and their impacts on structures as well as geotechnical issues are studied in this paper. Extensive liquefaction triggered lateral spread, landslide and slope failure cases were observed mainly at non-residential areas. Soil amplification is evaluated to be one of the main reasons for the heavy damage occurred in Ercis. Furthermore, site investigations and damage assessment performed after each earthquake proved that the observed damages are strongly correlated with insufficient qualities of structural materials, inadequate detailing and poor workmanship. 相似文献

Sivas Basin is the easternmost and third largest basin of the Central Anatolian Basins. In this study, gravity, aeromagnetic and seismic data are used to investigate the deep structure of the Sivas Basin, together with the well seismic velocity data, geological observations from the surface and the borehole data of the Celalli-1 well. Basement depth is modeled three-dimensionally (3D) using the gravity anomalies, and 2D gravity and magnetic models were constructed along with a N–S trending profile. Densities of the rock samples were obtained from the distinct parts of the basin surface and in-situ susceptibilities were also measured and evaluated in comparison with the other geophysical and geological data. Additionally, seismic sections, in spite of their low resolution, were used to define the velocity variation in the basin in order to compare depth values and geological cross-section obtained from the modeling studies. Deepest parts of the basin (12–13 km), determined from the 3D model, are located below the settlement of Hafik and to the south of Zara towns. Geometry, extension and wideness of the basin, together with the thickness and lithologies of the sedimentary units are reasonably appropriate for further hydrocarbon exploration in the Sivas Basin that is still an unexplored area with the limited number of seismic lines and only one borehole. 相似文献

In the present study, the effects of season on fatty acid composition, total lipids, and ω3/ω6ratios of northern pike muscle lipids in Kizilirmak River(Kirikkale,Turkey) were investigated.A total of 35 different fatty acids were determined in gas chromatography.Among these, palmitic, oleic, and palmitoleic acids had the highest proportion. The main polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs) were found to be docosahexaenoic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid, and arachidonic acid. There were more PUFAs than monounsaturated fatty acids(MUFA) in all seasons.Similarly, the percentages of ω3 fatty acids were higher than those of total ω6 fatty acids in the fatty acid composition.ω3/ω6 ratios were calculated as 1.53,1.32,1.97,and 1.71 in spring, summer, autumn and winter, respectively.Overall,we found that the fatty acid composition and ω3/ω6 fatty acid ratio in the muscle of northern pike were significantly influenced by season. 相似文献

Istanbul Earthquake Rapid Response and the Early Warning System 总被引:13,自引:0,他引:13

One hundred strong motion accelerometers have been placed in populated areas of Istanbul, within an area of approximately
50×30 km, to constitute a network that will enable rapid shake map and damage assessment after a damaging earthquake. After
triggered by an earthquake, each station will process the streaming strong motion to yield the spectral accelerations at specific
periods and will send these parameters in the form of SMS messages to the main data center through available GSM network services.
A shake map and damage distribution will be automatically generated. The shake and damage maps will be available on the Internet
and will also be pushed to several end users. For earthquake early warning information ten strong motion stations were located
as close as possible to the Marmara Fault. The continuous on-line data from these stations will be used to provide near-real
time warning for emerging potentially disastrous earthquakes.
This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date. 相似文献

Although the M
w
= 6.1 Kovancilar-Turkey earthquake of March 8, 2010 had a moderate intensity with a recorded PGA of 0.07g, it caused heavy damages in 2870 residential buildings having traditional or masonry structural systems and 42 human loss.
Damage has been reported to be particularly concentrated at Kovancilar and Palu counties of Elazig province. Five hours after
this earthquake, an aftershock of M
L
= 5.6 with a PGA of 0.08g struck the same region, developing the existing damages in the structures. In order to investigate this significant amount
of reported damages under the effect of such low ground shakings, our reconnaissance team arrived at the region and unexpectedly
came across a two-story RC building settled on a slope in Yukari Demirci village, which suffered moderate damage during the
shakes. The outline of this paper can be summarized as the presentation of the results of the investigations in the order
of describing the overall observed damages within the region; evaluation of the recorded motions; the details of the field-work
carried out for the two story RC building and the analytical estimation of the site-assessed damages by means of nonlinear
dynamic analysis. Employing the gathered data, the building is analytically modeled as plane frames and analyses are performed
under the effects of the processed earthquake records, which are applied to the structure one after another in the consistent
directions due to the building location. It is shown herein that the structural elements remain in the elastic range subjected
to the processed recorded motions; henceforth acceleration time histories are scaled step by step up to 0.40g and computations are repeated for each acceleration level. Comparison with the observed and the analytically obtained damages
confirmed that approximately 0.30g of peak ground acceleration should have to be exposed during the earthquakes. 相似文献
