At pesent,it is very popular to estimate pile bearing capacity by use of empirical formula andphysical indexes of soil provided in the design codes for civil construction in China. This paper attempts toapply mechanical indexes of soil and semi-empirical formulas, which are based on soil mechanical theoriesand were summarized and presented by Meyerhof in 1976,to calculate the axial pile bearing capacity.Lo-ading test results of 24 single piles in Tianjin area have been collected and compared with the proposed cal-ulation approach. 相似文献

An optimization mathematical model of the pile forces for piled breasting dolphins in the open sea under various loading conditions is presented. The optimum layout with the well distributed pile forces and the least number of piles is achieved by the multiplier penalty function method. Several engineering cases have been calculated and compared with the result of the conventional design method. It is shown that the number of piles can be reduced at least by 10%—20% and the piles‘ bearing state is improved greatly. 相似文献

A wind-tunnel experiment was designed and carried out to study the effect of a surface roughness transition on subfilter-scale
(SFS) physics in a turbulent boundary layer. Specifically, subfilter-scale stresses are evaluated that require parameterizations
and are key to improving the accuracy of large-eddy simulations of the atmospheric boundary layer. The surface transition
considered in this study consists of a sharp change from a rough, wire-mesh covered surface to a smooth surface. The resulting
magnitude jump in aerodynamic roughnesses, M = ln(z
01/z
02), where z
01 and z
02 are the upwind and downwind aerodynamic surface roughnesses respectively, is similar to that of past experimental studies
in the atmospheric boundary layer. The two-dimensional velocity fields used in this study are measured using particle image
velocimetry and are acquired at several positions downwind of the roughness transition as well as over a homogeneous smooth
surface. Results show that the SFS stress, resolved strain rate and SFS transfer rate of resolved kinetic energy are dependent
on the position within the boundary layer relative to the surface roughness transition. A mismatch is found in the downwind
trend of the SFS stress and resolved strain rate with distance from the transition. This difference of behaviour may not be
captured by some eddy-viscosity type models that parameterize the SFS stress tensor as proportional to the resolved strain
rate tensor. These results can be used as a benchmark to test the ability of existing and new SFS models to capture the spatial
variability SFS physics associated with surface roughness heterogeneities. 相似文献

—Effective stress analysis is performed to evaluate the residual displacement of a caissonquaywall during 1994 Hokkaido-Toho-Oki Earthquake and 1993 Kushiro-Oki Earthquake.Theconstitutive model used in this study is a multiple shear mechanism type defined in strain space and cantake into account the effect of rotation of principal stress axis. The earthquake accelerations recorded atthe outcropping rock during the earthquake are used as input bedrock motion. The results of finite ele-ment analysis are in good agreement with the observed behaviour of the quaywall. The analysis also indi-cates that liquefaction and high excess pore water pressure have a significant effect on the deformation ofthe caisson.Soil improvement is speculated as the most reliable measures against liquefaction. The influ-ence of soil improvement and the reasonable improved area are discussed in the paper. 相似文献

Large-eddy simulation (LES) is used to simulate stably-stratified turbulent boundary-layer flow over a steep two-dimensional
hill. To parametrise the subgrid-scale (SGS) fluxes of heat and momentum, three different types of SGS models are tested:
(a) the Smagorinsky model, (b) the Lagrangian dynamic model, and (c) the scale-dependent Lagrangian dynamic model (Stoll and
Porté-Agel, Water Resour Res 2006, doi:). Simulation results obtained with the different models are compared with data from wind-tunnel experiments conducted at
the Environmental Flow Research Laboratory (EnFlo), University of Surrey, U.K. (Ross et al., Boundary-Layer Meteorol 113:427–459,
2004). It is found that, in this stably-stratified boundary-layer flow simulation, the scale-dependent Lagrangian dynamic model
is able to account for the scale dependence of the eddy-viscosity and eddy-diffusivity model coefficients associated with
flow anisotropy in flow regions with large mean shear and/or strong flow stratification. As a result, simulations using this
tuning-free model lead to turbulence statistics that are more realistic than those obtained with the other two models. 相似文献

The performance of the modulated-gradient subgrid-scale (SGS) model is investigated using large-eddy simulation (LES) of the neutral atmospheric boundary layer within the weather research and forecasting model. Since the model includes a finite-difference scheme for spatial derivatives, the discretization errors may affect the simulation results. We focus here on understanding the effects of finite-difference schemes on the momentum balance and the mean velocity distribution, and the requirement (or not) of the ad hoc canopy model. We find that, unlike the Smagorinsky and turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) models, the calculated mean velocity and vertical shear using the modulated-gradient model, are in good agreement with Monin–Obukhov similarity theory, without the need for an extra near-wall canopy model. The structure of the near-wall turbulent eddies is better resolved using the modulated-gradient model in comparison with the classical Smagorinsky and TKE models, which are too dissipative and yield unrealistic smoothing of the smallest resolved scales. Moreover, the SGS fluxes obtained from the modulated-gradient model are much smaller near the wall in comparison with those obtained from the regular Smagorinsky and TKE models. The apparent inability of the LES model in reproducing the mean streamwise component of the momentum balance using the total (resolved plus SGS) stress near the surface is probably due to the effect of the discretization errors, which can be calculated a posteriori using the Taylor-series expansion of the resolved velocity field. Overall, we demonstrate that the modulated-gradient model is less dissipative and yields more accurate results in comparison with the classical Smagorinsky model, with similar computational costs. 相似文献

A method of coupled BEM-FEM analysis for the elastic spatial structure system is presented. It can be applied to the calculation of the stress and deformation of the large-diamater cylinder structure system and it is suitable for symmetric or non-symmetric structures under the distributed or concentrated load. Numerical examples show that the proposed method and computer program BEFEM are quite efficient in the analysis of the large-diameter cylinder structure problems in ocean engineering. 相似文献

Atmospheric measurements from several field experiments have been combined to develop a better understanding of the turbulence structure of the stable atmospheric boundary layer. Fast response wind velocity and temperature data have been recorded using 3-dimensional sonic anemometers, placed at severalheights (1 m to 4.3 m) above the ground. The measurements wereused to calculate the standard deviations of the three components of the windvelocity, temperature, turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) dissipation andtemperature variance dissipation. These data were normalized and plottedaccording to Monin–Obukhov similarity theory. The non-dimensional turbulencestatistics have been computed, in part, to investigate the generalapplicability of the concept of z-less stratification for stable conditions. From the analysis of a data set covering almost five orders ofmagnitude in the stability parameter = z/L (from near-neutral tovery stable atmospheric stability), it was found that this concept does nothold in general. It was only for the non-dimensional standard deviation oftemperature and the average dissipation rate of turbulent kinetic energythat z-less behaviour has been found. The other variables studied here(non-dimensional standard deviations of u, v, and w velocity components and dissipation of temperature variance) did not follow the concept of z-less stratification for the very stable atmospheric boundary layer. An imbalance between production and dissipation of TKE was found for the near-neutral limit approached from the stable regime, which matches with previous results for near-neutral stability approached from the unstable regime. 相似文献
