Correlations between continuum intensity, velocity, and equivalent widths of two Mn i lines as observed with two different entrance apertures tend to deteriorate with improvement in spatial resolution. The KPNO multichannel magnetograph was used to make area scans at the center of the disk with entrance apertures 3.5×2.5 arc and 1×1 arc. A coherence analysis shows that this effect is caused by marked differences of fluctuations in temperature and temperature gradients as well as in the velocity structure of photospheric elements of various sizes.  相似文献

Flare-associated soft X-ray bursts (8–12 Å) are examined for 283 events observed by OSO-III. These bursts are shown to be predominantly thermal in nature. Their time-profiles are roughly similar to those of the associated H flares, although the X-ray burst begins about two minutes earlier, on the average. The strength of the soft X-ray burst is directly related to the area and brilliance of the flare, the age and flare-richness of the associated plage, and the general level of solar activity at the time of the burst. The peak enhancements in the soft X-ray and H emission rates during flares are of the same order of magnitude, as are the total flare energies radiated at these wavelengths. We estimate that soft X-radiation accounts for up to 10% of a flare's total electromagnetic emission.NRC/NAS Resident Research Associate.  相似文献

Soft X-radiation between 8–12 Å was found to be emitted from the Sun at the time of four optically-identified major systems of loop prominences. The peak emission rates and time-integrated X-ray energies are very similar for three of the events while the fourth appeared to emit X-rays only weakly. The data are not consistent with a compression-condensation model for the loops, and support the fast-proton injection model. Proton injection may take place on a long time scale.  相似文献

The distribution of temperature and of emission measure in X-ray active regions relative to the coronal magnetic fields has been investigated. The position of maximum temperature and the position of maximum emission measure were found to lie along the magnetic neutral line, with the maximum temperature tending to lie above the position of an abrupt change in direction of the neutral line. Several simple structural models of these regions are compared to the emission measure. The total magnetic energy and the total emission measure appear to be related by a power law in the regions studied by us.  相似文献

Observations are presented of the Caii infrared triplet (8498 Å, 8542 Å, and 8662 Å) at three positions on the solar disk to make possible direct analyses of the lines and comparisons with theoretical computations. The source functions for the two strongest lines (8542 Å and 8662 Å) are equal at those heights corresponding to the wings of the lines (¦¦ > 0.4 Å) but not to those of the cores. We suggest that the apparent source function inequality in the cores is due to limb darkening caused by inhomogeneities in the chromosphere.Of the National Bureau of Standards and University of Colorado.  相似文献

Peak fluxes of flare-associated 8–12 Å X-ray bursts occur at or near the time of the maximum energy content of the soft X-ray source volume. The amplitudes of flare-associated bursts may thus be used as a measure of the energy deposited in the source volume by non-thermal electrons and other processes. In the mean, the soft X-ray burst amplitude is apparently independent of the occurrence of a type III event. This is interpreted to indicate that electrons accelerated by the type III process do not directly participate in establishing the soft X-ray source volume.  相似文献

A suite of metapelitic, basic and quartzofeldspathic rocks intruded by enderbitic gneiss from the southernmost tip of the Eastern Ghats Belt, India, and metamorphosed at c. 750–800  °C, 6  kbar, were subjected to repeated ductile shear deformation, hydration, cooling and accompanying alkali metasomatism along narrow shear zones. Gedrite-bearing assemblages developed in the shear zones traversing metapelitic rocks. Interpretation of the reaction textures in an appropriate P–T  grid in the system FMASH, an isothermal–isobaric μ H2O– μ Na2O grid in the system NFMASH, and geothermobarometric data suggest a complex evolutionary history for the gedrite-bearing parageneses. Initially, gedrite-bearing assemblages were produced due to increase in μ Na2O at nearly constant but high μ H2O accompanying cooling. Gedrite was partially destabilized to orthopyroxene+albite due to progressively increasing μ Na2O. During further cooling and at increased μ H2O a second generation of gedrite appeared in the rocks.  相似文献

The overstability of sound waves in a polytropic atmosphere is examined for disturbances of arbitrary optical thickness. Using data taken with the multi-channel magnetograph at KPNO, we demonstrate that plage regions surrounding a sunspot have thermal properties found in the photospheric network. These network-like regions existed up to the edge of the penumbra of the sunspot. Temperature gradients inferred from equivalent width fluctuations in our data do not conflict with the requirements of the theory (Parker, 1978) for flux tubes to exist at subphotospheric levels.  相似文献

Soft solar X-rays in the wavelength interval 8–12 Å were observed from OSO III. The totality of the observations that were made between 9 March, 1967, and 18 May, 1968, is summarized graphically and compared to the course of solar activity as observed at other wavelengths, with particular emphasis upon visible activity.  相似文献
