Community involvement in gathering and submitting spatially referenced data via web mapping applications has recently been gaining momentum. Urban forest inventory data analyzed by programs such as the i-Tree ECO inventory method is a good candidate for such an approach. In this research, we tested the feasibility of using spatially referenced data gathered and submitted by non-professional individuals through a web application to augment urban forest inventory data. We examined the use of close range photogrammetry solutions of images taken by consumer-grade cameras to extract quantitative metric information such as crown diameter, tree heights and trunk diameters. Several tests were performed to evaluate the accuracy of the photogrammetric solutions and to examine their use in addition to existing aerial image data to supplement or partially substitute for standard i-Tree ECO field measurements. 相似文献

Unmanned Aerial Systems (UASs) have the potential to provide multi-view data, but the approaches used to extract the multi-view data from UAS and investigation of their use in image classification are currently unavailable in publications to our best knowledge. This study presents a method that combines collinearity equations and a two-phase optimization procedure to automatically project a point from real world coordinate system of an orthoimage to UAS image coordinate system (row and column numbers) to be used in multi-view data extraction. The results show average errors for the computed UAS column and row numbers were 1.6 and 1.8 pixels respectively evaluated with leave-one-out method. Based on this algorithm, it’s also for the first time that object-based multi-view data were extracted and presented, and the potential of using the multi-view data to aid Geographic Object-Based Image Analysis(GEOBIA) through bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) modelling was evaluated with two representatives of BRDFs, the Rahman-Pinty-Verstraete(RPV) and Ross-Thick-LiSparse (RTLS). Our results indicate the RPV model tends to overestimate the bidirectional reflectance for land cover types with high reflectance, while perform well for those with relatively low reflectance in our study area. To test the impact of using multi-view data on image classification, we extracted parameters from BRDF models and used these parameters as object features for object-based classification. The 10-fold cross validation results show that the 3-parameter RTLS significantly improved overall accuracy compared to the classifications relying only on the orthoimage features, while other BRDF models did not show significant improvements, raising the needs to develop new methods to better utilize the multi-view information in GEOIBA in the future. 相似文献

Hyperspectral imagers are built line-by-line similar to images acquired by pushbroom sensors. They can experience striping artifacts due to variations in detector response to incident imagery. In this research, a method for hyperspectral image de-striping based on wavelet analysis and adaptive Fourier zero-frequency amplitude normalization has been developed. The algorithm was tested against three other de-striping algorithms. Hyperspectral image bands of different scenes with significant striping and random noise, as well as an image with simulated noise, were used in the testing. The results were assessed visually and quantitatively using frequency domain Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and/or Peak Signal-to-Ratio (PSNR). The results demonstrated the superiority of our proposed algorithm in de-striping hyperspectral images without introducing unwanted artifacts, yet preserving image details. In the noise-induced image results, the proposed method reduced RMSE error and improved PSNR by 3.5 dB which is better than other tested methods. A Combined method, integrating the proposed algorithm with a generic wavelet-based de-noising algorithm, showed significant random noise suppression in addition to stripe reduction with a PSNR value of 4.3 dB. These findings make the algorithm a candidate for practical implementation on remote sensing images including high resolution hyperspectral images contaminated with stripe and random noise. 相似文献
