Contact metamorphism in the aureole of the 1322 Ma Makhavinekh Lake Pluton, northern Labrador, affected monazite and zircon in the adjacent 1850 Ma metapelitic gneisses. Transformation of regional garnet and sillimanite to lower-pressure symplectitic intergrowths of cordierite, orthopyroxene, and spinel was accompanied by resorption of inherited monazite inclusions in garnet coupled with the appearance of coronitic high-Y monazite rims. In situ ion-microprobe dating is used to show that high-Y rims formed during contact metamorphism. Liberation of Y and HREE from garnet also gave rise to new xenotime growth. The coronitic nature of monazite overgrowths reflects the diffusion-controlled nature of net-transfer reactions whereas its higher Y composition reflects equilibration with xenotime at peak T (> 800 °C) conditions in the inner aureole. Very thin overgrowths on inherited zircon were also encountered, but only where zircon is surrounded by the symplectitic assemblage, reflecting liberation of Zr from garnet. Although these overgrowths are too thin to date using conventional ion-microprobe techniques, well-developed triple junctions between zircon and orthopyroxene suggests that they grew in textural equilibrium with the contact metamorphic assemblage.

In contrast to monazite, inherited zircon remained intact during contact metamorphism, exhibiting no change in morphology (other than the growth of thin rims) or internal zoning throughout the aureole. However, inherited sector-zoned zircons of anatectic origin display evidence for intracrystalline Pb redistribution in the inner aureole. In these samples, ion-microprobe analyses encountered heterogeneous Pb signals and a dispersion of 207Pb / 206Pb dates away from the well constrained 1850 Ma age of regional metamorphism. Whereas analyses from the outer aureole faithfully record the age of regional metamorphism, those from the inner aureole are normally and reversely discordant and distributed along a line collinear with a 1850 to 1322 Ma discordia. This disturbance is correlated with proximity to the pluton implying that Pb was mobile in the zircon lattice during contact metamorphism. Most grains are characterized by apparent Pb loss from low-U domains and apparent Pb gain in higher-U domains. These data are interpreted to reflect recovery of strained crystalline domains leading to expulsion of Pb* that was able to efficiently diffuse into higher-U domains that were partly amorphous prior to rapid reheating in the inner aureole.  相似文献

Analysis of monazite-bearing lithologies from the Precambrian Honey Brook Upland (HBU) and overlying metasedimentary Paleozoic Chester Valley Sequence (CVS) (SE PA, USA) reveals overprinting of primary major and accessory phase parageneses by texturally and compositionally disparate secondary accessory phase parageneses. Two-pyroxene temperatures of 915–945 °C for reconstituted pyroxene reflect emplacement temperatures of felsic plutonic rocks (opdalite, charnockite) prior to Mesoproterozoic metamorphism. Monazite in metavolcanic felsic gneiss yields three age domains at 1009 ± 4 Ma (2 s.e.), 965 ± 6, and 876 ± 10 Ma. The first two domains record metamorphism of the HBU after anorthosite intrusion; peak monazite–xenotime temperatures for the monazite core domain are 700 °C, and high Th/U values in the second (overgrowth) age domain likely reflect a second high-T monazite growth episode. Formation of cummingtonite coronas on orthopyroxene in opdalite constrains maximum 1010 Ma metamorphic temperatures in the “granulite-facies” terrane to 730–740 °C. Evidence of increased Cl fluid activity in the 965 Ma metamorphism includes higher Cl content of matrix apatite relative to garnet-included apatite (metavolcanics), and Cl-bearing K-hornblende succeeding cummingtonite in coronal overgrowths (opdalite). Extreme monazite Th/U values (75–250) in the rim domain suggest growth during low-T hydrothermal alteration. In the opdalite, secondary singe-grain monazite and monazite + xenotime metasomites in apatite yield ages of 714 ± 24 and 586 ± 88 Ma, temperatures of 325–425 °C, and are interpreted to reflect thermal disturbances associated with late Proterozoic plutonic and volcanic activity in the Upland. This thermal disturbance may be recorded by Rb–Sr age of 567 Ma for biotite from a HBU gneiss. Monazite age domains in metaquartzite (378 ± 28, 272 ± 44 Ma) suggest that low-grade metamorphism (260–320 °C, Mnz–Xno thermometry) of the CVS is not a result of Taconian orogenesis.  相似文献

This work establishes the relative timing of pluton emplacement and regional deformation from new dating and structural data. (1) Monazite and (2) zircon dating show Tournaisian ages for the Guéret granites [Aulon granite 352 ± 5 Ma (1), 351 ± 5 Ma (2) and Villatange tonalite 353 ± 6 Ma (1)] and Viseo-Namurian ages for the north Millevaches granites [Chavanat granite 336 ± 4 Ma (1), Goutelle granite 336 ± 3 Ma (1), Royère granite 323 ± 2 Ma (1) and 328 ± 6 Ma (2), Courcelles granite 318 ± 3 Ma (1)]. The Guéret and Millevaches granites are separated by the N110 Arrènes–la Courtine Shear Zone (ACSZ), composed from West to East by the Arrènes Fault (AF), the North Millevaches Shear Zone (NMSZ) and the la Courtine Shear Zone (CSZ), respectively. Tournaisian Guéret granites experienced a non-coaxial dextral shearing (NMSZ) recorded by the Villatange granite while the Aulon granite (Guéret granite) cuts across this dextral shear zone which thus stopped shearing during Tournaisian time. Visean to Namurian Millevaches granites experienced a coaxial deformation. Therefore, low displacements along the NMSZ and the CSZ occurred at the emplacement time of Chavanat and Pontarion-Royère granites (336–323 Ma). The structural analyses of Goutelle granite emphasizes a deformation related to the dextral Creuse Fault System (CFS) oriented N150–N160. From 360 to 300 Ma, the Z strain axis is always horizontal inferring a wrench setting for these granite emplacements. During this tectonic evolution, the Argentat zone acted as a minor normal fault and is related with a local Middle Visean (340–335 Ma) syn-orogenic extension on the western border of the Millevaches massif.  相似文献

多期变质变形事件的精确年代限定是造山构造年代学研究的热点问题之一。本文尝试运用面理弯切轴测量技术,结合石榴石Lu-Hf和原位独居石U-Pb定年,厘定北祁连托勒牧场地区石榴石和斜长石斑晶记录的两期构造变形事件:石榴石斑晶生长记录的早期构造变形事件年代为512.3±2.7Ma;斜长石斑晶生长记录的晚期构造变形事件年代不早于481.0±2.3Ma,并推断该期构造变形水平挤压主应力方向为北东-南西。斜长石斑晶内未发现独居石,用于年代学测试的独居石颗粒均位于斜长石斑晶外基质中。显微构造分析认为,独居石生长不早于斜长石斑晶。481.0±2.3Ma的独居石U-Pb年龄,应为斜长石斑晶所记录构造变形的时代下限。结合前人锆石U-Pb定年和Hf同位素研究结果分析认为,获得的512.3±2.7Ma石榴石-全岩Lu-Hf等时线年龄,代表了祁连洋俯冲过程中石榴石的生长时间,后期变质变形作用未对石榴石的Lu-Hf同位素体系产生明显影响。结合显微构造分析,石榴石Lu-Hf定年可为早期构造变形提供有效年代学制约。  相似文献

藏南程巴岩体具有埃达克岩的地球化学性质,但其形成年代、产出位置和成矿组合不同于冈底斯带成矿斑岩。利用背反射图像和电子探针成分分析发现其具有钙碱性花岗岩不常见的副矿物组合:Fe-Ti氧化物+锆石+磷灰石+榍石+独居石+钍石+氟碳铈矿+晶质铀矿+水氟碳钙钍矿,其中独居石富Th,钍石富U,独居石和钍石经富F、CO2流体交代形成氟碳铈矿和水氟碳钙钍矿。在(87Sr/86Sr)i和Th含量图解中,冈底斯带含矿斑岩与程巴岩体落在一条混合线线上,程巴岩体位于已证明受到上地壳物质或其他富集组分混染的甲马含矿斑岩和其他冈底斯含矿斑岩之间,表明程巴岩体在其源区或演化过程中也受到了富集端元的混染,但加入量少于甲马斑岩。  相似文献

Thermochemical properties have been either measured or estimated for synthetic monazite, LaPO4, and dissakisite, CaLaMgAl2(SiO4)3OH, the Mg-equivalent of allanite. A dissakisite formation enthalpy of ?6,976.5 ± 10.0 kJ mol?1 was derived from high-temperature drop-solution measurements in lead borate at 975 K. A third-law entropy value of 104.9 ± 1.6 J mol?1 K?1 was retrieved from low-temperature heat capacity (C p) measured on synthetic LaPO4 with an adiabatic calorimeter in the 30–300 K range. The C p values of lanthanum phases were measured in the 143–723 K range by differential scanning calorimetry. In this study, La(OH)3 appeared as suitable for drop solution in lead borate and represents an attractive alternative to La2O3. Pseudo-sections were calculated with the THERIAK-DOMINO software using the thermochemical data retrieved here for a simplified metapelitic composition (La = ∑REE + Y) and considering monazite and Fe-free epidotes along the dissakisite-clinozoïsite join, as the only REE-bearing minerals. Calculation shows a stability window for dissakisite-clinozoïsite epidotes (T between 250 and 550°C and P between 1 and 16 kbar), included in a wide monazite field. The PT extension of this stability window depends on the bulk-rock Ca-content. Assuming that synthetic LaPO4 and dissakisite-(La) are good analogues of natural monazite and allanite, these results are consistent with the REE-mineralogy sequence observed in metapelites, where (1) monazite is found to be stable below 250°C, (2) around 250–450°C, depending on the pressure, allanite forms at the expense of monazite and (3) towards amphibolite conditions, monazite reappears at the expense of allanite.  相似文献

In this study, we investigate the possible record of a Late Mesoproterozoic paired metamorphic belt in the Aravalli-Delhi Mobile Belt(ADMB), NW India using a suite of supracrustal and metaigneous granulites from the Pilwa-Chinwali granulite terrain at the north-western margin of the ADMB. Using metamorphic reaction textures, mineral chemistry, metamorphic reaction history, geothermobarometric computations and electron microprobe dating of monazite in 5 samples of pelitic granulite, leptynite gneiss, enderbite and charnockite, we have deduced a medium-pressure granulite facies metamorphism(P between 4.9 and 6.8 kbar, T 760-815℃) along a heating-cooling, counterclockwise P-T path between 1.09 and 1.01 Ga. When collated with published metamorphic and chronological constraints and geological settings of the adjoining crustal domains of the ADMB, these findings provide new insights into the developments of two tectonic domains of contrasting thermal gradients at ca. 1.0 Ga, consistent with metamorphic transformations in tectonically thickened middle-lower crustal sections during continental collision to continental subduction and in the root zones of spatially adjacent island arc, as part of the Rodinia supercontinent assembly event.  相似文献

柴北缘高压-超高压变质带西段鱼卡地区变泥质岩中夹有榴辉岩透镜体,已有的研究显示变泥质岩的变质程度也达到了榴辉岩相,并与榴辉岩一起经历了高压-超高压变质作用,是柴北缘曾经历早古生代大陆深俯冲作用的直接证据,也是研究柴北缘大陆深俯冲过程重要的岩石"探针"。本文选择柴北缘西段鱼卡超高压变质单元中的3件蓝晶石榴白云母石英片岩HP变泥质岩样品分别进行了SHRIMP、LA-ICP-MS锆石和原位独居石U-Pb定年。样品Q06-1-2的锆石给出了920±18Ma(MSWD=1.3)的加权平均年龄,其CL图像特征和极低的Th/U比显示其为变质年龄,代表了与罗迪尼亚超大陆碰撞拼合相关的变质事件。样品A03-11-2.2的锆石给出了450±7Ma(MSWD=0.2)的年龄,认为其代表变泥质岩的榴辉岩相变质年龄。样品A03-14-11的薄片原位独居石定年给出了439±8Ma(MSWD=0.072)的加权平均年龄,结合岩相学观察,认为其可能为榴辉岩相峰期之后的早期退变质年龄。这些资料显示柴北缘鱼卡地区早古生代大陆深俯冲的时限为440~450Ma。结合已有研究资料,鱼卡高压变泥质岩记录了新元古代早期和早古生代两期变质事件,进一步证明了柴北缘地区经历了格林威尔期和早古生代两期造山事件  相似文献
