A magnitude 4.3 earthquake occurred near Pacoima Dam on 13 January 2001. An accelerometer array that had been upgraded after the Northridge earthquake recorded the motion with 17 channels on the dam and the dam–foundation interface. Using this data, properties of the first two modes are found from a system identification study. Modal properties are also determined from a forced vibration experiment performed in 2002 and indicate a significantly stiffer system than is estimated from the 2001 earthquake records. The 2001 earthquake, although small, must have induced temporary nonlinearity. This has implications for structural health monitoring. The source of the nonlinear behaviour is believed to be loss of stiffness in the foundation rock. A finite element model of Pacoima Dam is constructed and calibrated to match modal properties determined from the system identification study. A dynamic simulation of the 2001 earthquake response produces computed motions that agree fairly well with the recorded ones. Copyright © 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

Approximate incremental dynamic analysis using the modal pushover analysis procedure 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Incremental dynamic analysis (IDA)—a procedure developed for accurate estimation of seismic demand and capacity of structures—requires non‐linear response history analysis of the structure for an ensemble of ground motions, each scaled to many intensity levels, selected to cover the entire range of structural response—all the way from elastic behaviour to global dynamic instability. Recognizing that IDA of practical structures is computationally extremely demanding, an approximate procedure based on the modal pushover analysis procedure is developed. Presented are the IDA curves and limit state capacities for the SAC‐Los Angeles 3‐, 9‐, and 20‐storey buildings computed by the exact and approximate procedures for an ensemble of 20 ground motions. These results demonstrate that the MPA‐based approximate procedure reduces the computational effort by a factor of 30 (for the 9‐storey building), at the same time providing results to a useful degree of accuracy over the entire range of responses—all the way from elastic behaviour to global dynamic instability—provided a proper hysteretic model is selected for modal SDF systems. The accuracy of the approximate procedure does not deteriorate for 9‐ and 20‐storey buildings, although their dynamics is more complex, involving several ‘modes’ of vibration. For all three buildings, the accuracy of the MPA‐based approximate procedure is also satisfactory for estimating the structural capacities for the limit states of immediate occupancy, collapse prevention, and global dynamic instability. 提出1种适用于海上风力发电支撑结构的模态振型扩阶方法。该方法无需借助转换矩阵实现振型扩阶,而是依靠实测模态并通过修正有限元模型对应振型在未测试自由度的振型值而获得空间完备的模态振型,并且所发展的方法在一定程度上可以忽略有限元模型存在的建模误差,是1种直接的估算方法,计算效率相对较高。文中采用三桩导管架式海上风力发电支撑结构验证提出方法的正确性以及在低阶模态振型扩阶上的优越性。数值结果表明,该方法对传感器位置、数量依赖程度低,尤其对于海上风电结构,仅在结构的水深较浅部位布置少数传感器即可比较精确的实现低阶模态振型扩阶,具有良好的工程应用前景。 相似文献

A dealiasing algorithm for radar radial velocity observed by C-band Doppler radars is presented as an extension of an existing S-band dealiasing algorithm. This has operational significance in that many portable and many commercial broadcast radars, as well as approximately one half of the Chinese weather radar network (CINRAD), are C-band radars. With a wavelength of about 5 cm, the Nyquist interval of C-band radars is just about one half that of S-band radars (wavelength of about 10 cm) and thus has more velocity folding. The proposed algorithm includes seven modules to remove noisy data, find the starting radials, dealias velocities, and apply least squares error checking in both the radial and azimuth directions. The proposed velocity dealiasing method was applied to one widespread rain case and three strong convective cases from radars operating in China. It was found that, on average, 92.95% of the aliased radial velocity data could be correctly de-aliased by the algorithm, resulting in 96.65% of the data being valid. 相似文献

车装全液压钻机具有自动化程度高、工艺适用范围广、机动性好及施工效率高等优点,因此被广泛应用于煤层气抽采井、水井等钻井施工。桅杆作为钻机的重要构件,支撑着动力头的回转钻进工作,桅杆工作振动的稳定性对钻机工作的可靠性具有十分重要的影响。通过对桅杆进行模态分析,明确了桅杆的固有频率和模态振型,结果表明桅杆可能发生共振现象;通过对桅杆进行拓扑优化分析,并且根据桅杆的实际功能,得到优化模型,静力分析和模态分析结果均表明优化效果显著,满足结构强度要求且避免了共振的发生。桅杆的有限元分析,为桅杆的结构设计提供了理论支撑,同时提供了一种现代机械结构设计方法,具有一定的参考意义。 相似文献

Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) has proved a powerful tool for quantifying fluid turbulence and is increasingly being applied
in fields such as fluvial sedimentology and geomorphology. When operated in the burst-signal processing mode, high-frequency
velocity fluctuations are measured at irregular time internals. In many situations, there is a need to transform these data
to obtain evenly spaced velocity values but at a lower frequency. However, clear guidelines for this type of data processing
are lacking. Three steps are necessary in order to transform the original files into evenly spaced data: (1) resampling at
the average sampling rate, (2) low-pass filtering with half-power frequency adjusted to the final sampling frequency, and
(3) decimating at the desired frequency. The decision taken at each step will affect the resulting signal and may cause, if
not assessed carefully, severe problems in the signal such as aliasing errors. This paper examines each stage of data processing
and details the advantages and drawbacks of different techniques in relation to the effects on turbulence statistics (variance,
instantaneous shear stress, etc.). A standard method and specific guidelines are finally proposed.
