In the past decade, the applications of magnetotelluric method in the electric prospecting for ore bodies have been rapidly progressing. In the present work, we summarize the first results on this way. We discuss the specificity of the geoelectrical models in the problems of mining prospecting for ore bodies. The state-of-the-art capabilities of the method, which rely on the synchronous observation systems and the procedure of joint inversion of magnetotelluric and magnetovariational responses, are considered in the context of ore mineral exploration. The results of modeling a typical mining audio-magnetotelluric survey for ore minerals are presented. On the basis of these simulations and the data provided by in-situ soundings, the efficient approaches to the processing, analysis, and inversion of these data are discussed and illustrated. The future trends in magnetotellurics as applied to the mining prospecting are analyzed. 相似文献

Abstract In this article three main stages of tsunami wave evolution are investigated. At first, the development of disturbances from a given patched elevation of the bottom surface in an incompressible nonviscous fluid of the uniform depth is considered. Then, a tsunami wave diffraction by underwater bottom elevation or cavity is investigated. In this case the shallow water equations are already used, and it is supposed that a cylindrical wave is spread from patched water elevation over the epicentrum. Last, the tsunami propagation and transformation in a shallow water region and its run‐up on a beach are investigated on the basis of the improved shallow water theory, taking into consideration the nonlinear and dispersive terms of higher order. The proposed theory is tested in a problem of collisions of two solutions. Solutions of the first and the second problems are obtained by the method of integral Laplace's transformation with following numerical inversion of transformations. A finite difference method for a solution of the last problem is used. 相似文献

When melts of Ca–Al inclusions in chondrites, which are dominated by the oxides SiO2, MgO, CaO, and Al2O3, evaporate at high temperatures, the SiO2 and MgO fugacities are inverted: SiO2, which is more volatile than MgO, becomes less volatile when melts rich in refractory CaO and Al2O3 evaporate. This fugacity inversion can be realistically explained within the framework of D.S. Korzhinskii’s theory of acid–base interaction between components in silicate melts. According to this theory, an increase in CaO concentration in the melt increases its basicity, and this, in turn, increases the activity (and hence, also fugacity) of MgO and decreases those of SiO2. In the real compositions of the Ca–Al inclusions in chondrites, the MgO/SiO2 ratio systematically decreases with an increase in the CaO concentration under the effect of acid–base interaction. 相似文献

In weather forecasting, current and past observational data are routinely assimilated into numerical simulations to produce ensemble forecasts of future events in a process termed “model steering”. Here we describe a similar approach that is motivated by analyses of previous forecasts of the Working Group on California Earthquake Probabilities (WGCEP). Our approach is adapted to the problem of earthquake forecasting using topologically realistic numerical simulations for the strike-slip fault system in California. By systematically comparing simulation data to observed paleoseismic data, a series of spatial probability density functions (PDFs) can be computed that describe the probable locations of future large earthquakes. We develop this approach and show examples of PDFs associated with magnitude M > 6.5 and M > 7.0 earthquakes in California. 相似文献

Thermal and electrical conductivities due to electron scattering on phonons are calculated for degenerate cores of white dwarfs and envelopes of neutron stars for wide ranges of density, temperature and ion charge. In the stellar zones, in which T pi(Z1/3e2/F) (piis the ion plasma frequency and F the Fermi velocity of electrons), the main contribution into scattering comes from the Umklapp processes. In the zones with lowerT, the Umklapp processes are frozen out, that results in a sharp growth of electrical and thermal conductivities.
