Abstract   The spatial hydrogeological and structural character of the active Mozumi-Sukenobu Fault (MSF) was investigated along a survey tunnel excavated through the MSF in the Kamioka Mine, central Japan. Major groundwater conduits on both sides of the MSF are recognized. One is considered to be a subvertical conduit between the tunnel and the surface, and the other is estimated to be a major reservoir of old meteoric water alongside the MSF. Our studies indicate that part of the MSF is a sub-vertical continuous barrier that obstructs younger meteoric water observed in the south-eastern part of the Active Fault Survey Tunnel (AFST) and water recharge to the rock mass intersected by the north-western part of the AFST. The MSF might be a continuous barrier resulting in the storage of a large quantity of older groundwater to the northwest. The observations and results of in situ hydraulic tests indicate that the major reservoir is not the fault breccia associated with the northeast–southwest trending faults of the MSF, but the zone in which blocks of fractured rocks occur beside high angle faults corresponding to X shears whose tectonic stress field coincides with the present regional stress field and antithetic Riedel shears of the MSF. The results from borehole investigations in the AFST indicate that secondary porosity is developed in the major reservoir due to the destruction of filling minerals and fracture development beside these shears. The increase in hydraulic conductivity is not directly related to increased density of fractures around the MSF. Development of secondary porosity could cause the increase in hydraulic conductivity around the MSF. Our results suggest that minor conduits of the fracture network are sporadically distributed in the sedimentary rocks around the MSF in the AFST.  相似文献

Most of the new towns in Japan are large residential estates with populations of more than 100,000, and with work-forces commuting to the parent cities. Rapid economic growth since 1960 has resulted in an enormous concentration of people in the metropolitan regions of Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. Supply of public housing has been very difficult owing to a lack of suitable level land, fragmentation of land ownership, and high prices. Abstract— Hydrogen‐isotopic compositions of carbonate and maskelynite in Allan Hills (ALH) 84001 were measured by secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS). the δd values of both minerals show considerable deviation. The deviation seems to be caused by addition of varying amounts of terrestrial water in the case of carbonate. In the case of maskelynite, H is heterogeneously distributed and the deviation in δD values seems to be due to mixing of this indigenous heavy H with isotopically normal H present in the SIMS chamber. The indigenous δD value in ALH 84001 seems to be ~2000%‰. Carbonate rather than maskelynite seems to be the main carrier of H in ALH 84001. Because ALH 84001 is ~4 Ga old, the H‐isotopic composition suggests that a large fraction of the initial martian atmosphere had already escaped by 4 Ga.  相似文献

The selenium content of fifty two geochemical reference samples, issued by several reference material producers (ANRT, GIT-IWG, USGS, NIST and GSJ) has been determined by continuous hydride generation and atomic absorption spectrometry. Selenium(VI) in the digested solutions was pre-reduced to selenium(IV) by heating in 6 mol l−1 HCl solution. The limit of detection was 3 ng g−1 selenium in common geological samples. Some samples which contain a large amount of heavy metals were analysed by the standard addition technique. The agreement between the reported results and published data is satisfactory.  相似文献

Abstract We report a new chondrite that fell in Hashima City in central Japan sometime during the period 1868–1912. The chondrite weighs 1110.64 g and exhibits distinct chondritic structure. Chondrules occupy 24 vol% of the stone and consist of olivine (average Fa17,8), low-Ca pyroxene (average Fs15,8 Wo0.9), devitrified glass and lesser amounts of oligoclase (ca. Ab80Or4), kamacite, taenite, troilite and chromian spinel. Matrix occupying 76 vol% of the stone consists of olivine, low-Ca pyroxene, kamacite, taenite, troilite, cryptocrystalline minerals and lesser amounts of chromian spinel and chlorapatite. Matrix minerals have the same compositions as those in chondrules. Mineral chemistry, bulk chemistry and magnetic properties indicate that Hashima is an H-group chondrite. Well-defined chondrules, scarcely recrystallized oligoclase and relatively small variations of olivine and low-Ca pyroxene compositions indicate that Hashima is of petrologic type 4.  相似文献

Analyses of Sm-Nd and U-Th-Pb systematics, REE, Ba, Sr, Rb and K concentrations were carried out for whole rock and mineral separates from the Nakhla meteorite. The 1.26 ±.07 b.y. Sm-Nd age obtained in this work is in good agreement with those previously obtained by the Rb-Sr and Ar-Ar methods. The high initial ?Nd value of +16 suggests that Nakhla was derived from a light REE-depleted, old planetary mantle source. U-Th-Pb data, after correction for pre-analytical terrestrial Pb contamination assuming an age of 1.26 b.y., suggest that the age of the Nakhla source is ?4.33 b.y. The agreement in the age determined by three independent radiometric methods and the high initial ?Nd value strongly suggest that the 1.3 b.y. age dates one thorough igneous event in the parent body which not only reset these isotopic systems but also established the chemical and petrologic characteristics observed for the Nakhla meteorite.Using a three-stage Sm-Nd evolution model in combination with LIL element data and estimated partition coefficients, we have tested partial melting and fractional crystallization models to estimate LIL element abundances in a possible Nakhla source. Our model calculations suggest that partial melting of the light REE-depleted source followed by extensive fractional crystallization (?50%) of the partial melt could account for the REE abundances in the Nakhla constituent minerals. The estimated source is depleted in the light REE, Ba, Rb and K and therefore may resemble the MORB source in the earth's upper mantle or the upper 60–300 km of the moon.The significantly younger age of Nakhla than the youngest lunar rock; the young differentiation age inferred from the U-Th-Pb data, and the estimated LIL element abundances (including those of K, U and Th) in the source suggest that the Nakhla meteorite may have been derived from a relatively large, well-differentiated planetary body such as Mars.  相似文献

The data reported in publications and personal communications were evaluated statistically, taking into account the analytical method and sample preparation. The L1-SAIF (L1 Submeter-class Augmentation with Integrity Function) signal is one of the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) navigation signals, which provides an augmentation function for mobile users in Japan. The tropospheric delay correction in the L1-SAIF augmentation is discussed in detail. Because the topographical features in Japan are complicated, the correction information is generated from GPS observation data collected at 200 GPS stations which are densely distributed over Japan. A total of 210 Tropospheric Grid Points (TGPs) are arranged to fully cover Japan. The TGPs that provide the correction information are selected adaptively to achieve the expected correction accuracy. This selection of TGPs is provided by the TGP mask message. Mobile users acquire the zenith tropospheric delay (ZTD) value at neighboring TGPs from the correction messages, and can estimate the local ZTD value accurately by using a suitable ZTD model. Only up to seven L1-SAIF messages are sufficient to provide the full correction information. Accuracy evaluations have proven that it is possible to achieve a correction accuracy of 13.4 mm RMS. The strategy presented here has been implemented into the augmentation system using the L1-SAIF signal, and its application guidance is presented in the QZSS interface specification.  相似文献
