Prospects of the “WSO-UV” Project for Star Formation Study in Nearby Dwarf Galaxies

In the present work we consider the questions of star formation and evolution of nearby dwarf galaxies. We describe the method of star formation history determination based on multicolor photometry of resolved stars and models of color-magnitude diagrams of the galaxies. We present the results of star formation rate determination and its dependence on age and metallicity for dwarf irregular and dwarf spheroidal galaxies in the two nearby galaxy groups M81 and Cen A. Similar age of the last episode of star formation in the central part of the M81 group and also unusually high level of metal enrichment in the several galaxies of the Cen A group are mentioned. We pay special attention to the consideration of perspectives of star formation study in nearby dwarf galaxies with he new WSO-UV observatory.     

The brightness of the solar disk in the continuum in the region 1.0–2.4 µm

From the results of a critical analysis of some absolute solar radiance measurements, we determine two of the most reliable series for the range 1.0–2.4µm. The absolute scale for both series are corrected using modern experimental data. The resulting data show the presence of an unknown source of absorption in the region 2.0–2.4µm in the photosphere.

Interferometric investigation of the line of sight velocities in λ5303 during the eclipse of 11 September, 1968

Fabry-Perot interferometric observations of the λ5303 Å corona line on 22 September, 1968 were carried out. There are many elements of the interferometric rings with considerable line of sight velocities. The influence on the results of the changes in the brightness of the monochromatic and white-light corona were discussed.     

B, V, I photometry of 20 dwarf irregular galaxies within 10 Mpc

CCD photometry is presented for 20 dIrr galaxies situated in the nearby complexes CenA/M83, and CVnI as well as in the general field of the Local Volume. We present integrated magnitudes of the galaxies in   B , V , I   bands and also surface brightness profiles to a median isophote  μ _B ∼ 28  mag arcsec⁻². The popular Sersic parametrization of surface brightness profiles generally does a poor job of simultaneously fitting the inner cores and outer exponential surface brightness fall-offs observed in many of our targets. The observed sample is a part of a general project to image about 500 nearby  ( D < 10 Mpc)  dwarf galaxies in multiple bands.
