主并合星系对是研究星系同时受到本身与外部环境影响的绝佳实验对象,而星系恒星形成率的变化可以示踪这些影响产生的作用.星系的恒星质量、星系对之间的投影距离与相对倾角都是影响恒星形成率的几个重要因素.研究结果表明,更大恒星质量星系倾向于有更大的恒星形成率增幅,相对倾角接近平行的星系同样趋于有更大的恒星形成率增幅,而投影距离在研究范围内与恒星形成率没有相关性.  相似文献

挑选Sloan数字巡天第7次释放数据(SDSS DR7)的主星系样本中近邻的、面向的盘状星系作为星系样本,统计研究了在恒星总质量相等的情况下盘状星系的颜色和尺度之间的相关性,并对相关性的真实性进行了检验.发现对于同等质量的盘状星系,u-r颜色与尺度相关性很弱,而g-r、r-i、r-z颜色与尺度负相关,即星系的尺度越大,颜色越蓝.该结果意味着盘状星系的质量分布对其恒星形成历史影响很大,物质分布越延展的星系,其演化越慢.  相似文献

基于COSMOS(Cosmic Evolution Survey)/Ultra VISTA(Ultra-deep Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope for Astronomy)场中多波段测光数据,利用质量限选取了红移分布在0z3.5的星系样本.通过UVJ(U-V和V-J)双色图分类判据将星系分类成恒星形成星系(SFGs)和宁静星系(QGs).对于红移分布在0z1.5范围内且M*1011M⊙的QGs来说,该星系在样本中所占比例高于70%.在红移0z3.5范围内,恒星形成星系的恒星形成率(SFR)与恒星质量(M*)之间有着很强的主序(MS)关系.对于某一固定的恒星质量M*来说,星系的SFR和比恒星形成率(s SFR)会随着红移增大而增大,这表明在高红移处恒星形成星系更加活跃,有激烈的恒星形成.相对于低质量的星系来说,高质量的SFGs有较低的s SFR,这意味着低质量星系的增长更多的是通过星系本身的恒星形成.通过结合来自文献中数据点信息,发现更高红移(2z8)星系的s SFR随红移的演化趋势变弱,其演化关系是s SFR∝(1+z)0.94±0.17.  相似文献

从观测上测定早型星系中恒星形成活动随红移的演化有助于理解这类星系的形成演化.结合GEMS(Galaxy Evolution from Morphology and SEDs)巡天的HST/ACS(Hubble Space Telescope/Advanced Camera for Surveys)高分辨图像和CDFS(ChandraDeep Field South)天区Spitzer、GALEX(Galaxy Evolution Explorer)等多波段数据,基于形态、颜色和恒星质量选出一个0.2≤z≤1.0红移范围的包含456个早型星系的完备样本.利用stacking技术测量了样本星系紫外与红外平均光度,估计早型星系的恒星形成率.结果显示,早型星系中的恒星形成率较低(<3 M·yr-1),随红移递减而降低.在红移z=1以来的恒星形成贡献的质量小于15%.星族分析亦肯定大质量早型星系的主体星族形成于宇宙早期(z>2).  相似文献

基于目前流行的冷暗物质等级成团理论的星系形成的半解析模型取得了很大进展.在引入一系列合理的关于重子物质物理过程的假设,如气体冷却、恒星形成率、超新星能量反馈以后,结合N体数值模拟,星系形成的半解析模型一方面能较成功地预言许多与观测符合的近邻星系的性质,如光度函数、星系的两点相关函数、Thlly-Fisher关系、星系团中椭圆星系的颜色一星等关系等;另一方面还能较成功地预言宇宙的恒星形成历史,以及一部分高红移星系的性质,如Lyman-Break星系的数目随红移的分布.但是最近一些观测表明,半解析模型在高红移预言的大质量星系较少,且红星系数目也较观测少.重点讨论半解析模型成功与不足之处,并指出解决这些问题可能的途径。  相似文献

从Sloan数字巡天第2批释放的数据(SDSS DR2)中选择了395个在r波段亮于15等的面向晚型旋涡星系作为样本,研究了盘的颜色梯度与结构参数的关系.结果表明:盘的颜色梯度与盘的绝对星等(质量)无关;盘的颜色梯度与盘的尺度有关,越大的盘颜色梯度越陡;盘的颜色梯度与盘的颜色有关,越蓝的盘颜色梯度越陡;盘的颜色梯度与盘的表面亮度有关,越亮的盘颜色梯度越陡,并简单讨论了盘的颜色梯度与各结构参数的相关关系对晚型旋涡星系盘恒星形成历史的约束.  相似文献

利用赫歇尔空间望远镜的H-ATLAS(Herschel Astrophysical Terahertz Large Area Survey)SDP(Science Demonstration Phase)天区从紫外到亚毫米波段数据,结合星族合成方法和尘埃模型,计算了星系的红外总光度.在此基础上,分别针对强恒星形成星系和弱恒星形成星系,研究了利用紫外光度、红外光度和Hα谱线计算得到的恒星形成率(Star Formation Rate,SFR)的差异以及导致差异的内在物理起因.发现对于恒星形成活动强的星系,这3种恒星形成率指针给出的结果基本一致,弥散较小、只是在高恒星形成率端,利用紫外光度算得的恒星形成率比利用Hα谱线流量算得的恒星形成率略微偏小;而在低恒星形成率端,紫外光度指针偏大于Hα谱线指针;红外光度指针与Hα谱线指针在两端无明显偏差.对弱恒星形成星系,紫外光度、Hα谱线和红外光度3种恒星形成率指针存在明显的差异,且弥散较大.利用紫外光度和Hα谱线计算得到的恒星形成率的弥散和系统偏差随着星系年龄、质量的增加而增大.系统偏差增大的主要原因是利用紫外连续谱斜率β定标恒星形成活动较弱星系的消光时,高估了这些星系的紫外消光,使得消光改正后的紫外光度偏大.另外,MPA/JHU(Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics/Johns Hopkins University)数据库中弱恒星形成星系的恒星形成率SFR(Hα)比真实值偏低.  相似文献

通过对近邻星系团Abell 2199中290颗成员星系进行形态分类,研究这些星系的恒星形成率及其与形态和相关物理特性之间的关系.该星系团中星系的特征恒星形成率与Ha等值宽度、星系光谱在4000A处的跃变程度以及星系所包含的恒星质量之间有较强的相关性.这些星系的恒星形成活动没有表现出明显的环境效应,表明该星系团仍处在剧烈的动力学演化阶段,远没有达到动力学平衡.  相似文献

卫星星系是研究星系形成的有力探针.近期的研究指出,中央星系是椭圆星系时,其卫星星系数目比旋涡星系多.为了探究这种差异,采用了新一代流体动力学模型(The Next Generation Illustris Simulations,简称TNG模拟)中TNG300-1的数据,选择了恒星质量范围为1010M⊙·h-1Mc1012M⊙·h-1的中央星系,同时根据星系的核球质量与星系的恒星质量的比值(B/T)将这个范围的中央星系划分为旋涡星系和椭圆星系.使用统计学的方法进行分析后发现:当控制暗晕质量分布,使得不同形态的中央星系所处的暗晕的质量分布完全相同时,卫星星系分布存在新的差异,即旋涡星系的卫星星系数目更多.这一结论和观测结果相反,产生这一差异的主要原因是:旋涡星系的卫星星系包含更多的冷气体,使得旋涡星系的卫星星系恒星形成效率更高.  相似文献

利用SDSS光谱,研究了IRAS卫星亮红外源星表中的盘状星系中的恒星形成性质,并着重探讨了棒对星系核区恒星形成活动的影响.利用星族合成的方法得到了每个样本星系核区的恒星组成性质、恒星形成活动的强度等信息,并比较了星系整体和核区恒星形成性质的差异.得到的结论:除去相互作用,样本中的棒星系显示出比非棒旋星系更强的核区恒星形成活动和更多的年轻星族成分.  相似文献

The effect of circumstances on the properties of galaxies is researched on the basis of semi-analytic models and SDSS DR4 (Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 4). From the measurements of the weighted correlation function with the color, star formation rate and stellar mass, it is found that the semianalytic models are in good accordance with the SDSS data in color and stellar mass, while the star formation rate manifests itself as a thing that has no relation to the circumstances in the SDSS data. This conclusion confirms the prediction of the relation between some properties in a galaxy and the circumstances, made by means of the semi-analytic model, but the reason why the star formation rate has no relation to the circumstances still remains to be studied.  相似文献

By using the SDSS spectra, we have studied the star formation properties of the nearby spiral galaxies selected from the Revised Bright Galaxy Sample, and tried to find the effect of bar structure on the star formation activity in the nuclear regions of nearby galaxies. The stellar population composition and the intensity of star formation activities of each sample galaxy are acquired by using the stellar population synthesis code—STARLIGHT, and the star formation properties of nuclear regions are compared with those of integral sample galaxies. We find that the star formation in barred spiral galaxies is more active than that of unbarred spirals, and that barred spirals have younger stellar populations.  相似文献

Using the Luminous Red Galaxy (LRG) sample of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7 (SDSS DR7), we investigate the environmental dependence of stellar mass, star formation rate (SFR) and specific star formation rate (SSFR) of LRGs. It is found that stellar mass of LRGs nearly is independent of local environments, and that the environmental dependence of SFR and SSFR in the LRG sample is much weaker than the one in the Main galaxy sample. One possible explanation is that galaxy color and morphology are a pair of galaxy properties most predictive of local environments, while LRGs are a group of galaxies that are likely to be luminous, red and of early types (© 2012 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. We present evidence that there is a significant correlation between the fraction of the mass of a galaxy that lies in its central black hole and the age of the galactic stellar population. Since the absorption-line indices that are used to estimate the age are luminosity-weighted, they essentially measure the time since the last significant episode of star formation in the galaxy. The existence of this correlation is consistent with several theories of galaxy formation, including the currently favoured hierarchical picture of galaxy evolution, which predicts just such a relation between the black hole mass and the time since the last burst of merger-induced star formation. It is not consistent with models in which the massive black hole is primordial, and hence uncoupled from the stellar properties of the galaxy.  相似文献

The star formation histories of galaxies in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We present the results of a moped analysis of  ∼3 × 105  galaxy spectra from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 3 (SDSS DR3), with a number of improvements in data, modelling and analysis compared with our previous analysis of DR1. The improvements include: modelling the galaxies with theoretical models at a higher spectral resolution of 3 Å, better calibrated data, an extended list of excluded emission lines and a wider range of dust models. We present new estimates of the cosmic star formation rate (SFR), the evolution of stellar mass density and the stellar mass function from the fossil record. In contrast to our earlier work the results show no conclusive peak in the SFR out to a redshift around 2 but continue to show conclusive evidence for 'downsizing' in the SDSS fossil record. The star formation history is now in good agreement with more traditional instantaneous measures. The galaxy stellar mass function is determined over five decades of mass, and an updated estimate of the current stellar mass density is presented. We also investigate the systematic effects of changes in the stellar population modelling, the spectral resolution, dust modelling, sky lines, spectral resolution and the change of data set. We find that the main changes in the results are due to the improvements in the calibration of the SDSS data, changes in the initial mass function and the theoretical models used.  相似文献

We derive physical parameters of galaxies from their observed spectra using MOPED, the optimized data compression algorithm of Heavens, Jimenez & Lahav. Here we concentrate on parametrizing galaxy properties, and apply the method to the NGC galaxies in Kennicutt's spectral atlas. We focus on deriving the star formation history, metallicity and dust content of galaxies. The method is very fast, taking a few seconds of CPU time to estimate ∼17 parameters, and is therefore specially suited to studying large data sets, such as the Anglo-Australian two-degree-field (2dF) galaxy survey and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). Without the power of MOPED, the recovery of star formation histories in these surveys would be impractical. In Kennicutt's atlas, we find that for the spheroidals a small recent burst of star formation is required to provide the best fit to the spectrum. There is clearly a need for theoretical stellar atmospheric models with spectral resolution better than 1 Å if we are to extract all the rich information that large redshift surveys contain in their galaxy spectra.  相似文献

The local face-on disk galaxies are selected as galaxy sample from the main galaxy sample of the Seventh Data Release of Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS DR7). The correlations between the colors and sizes of disk galaxies with equivalent total stellar masses are statistically investigated and their realities are tested. It is found that for the disk galaxies with equivalent masses, the correlation between u-r color and size is very weak. However, there are anticorrelations between g-r, r-i, r-z colors and sizes, i.e., the larger are the sizes of galaxies, the bluer are their colors. This result means that the mass distribution of disk galaxies has a significant influence on their star formation history. The galaxies with more extended mass distributions evolve more slowly.  相似文献

Using two volume-limited samples above and below the value of $M_{r}^{ *}$ constructed from the Main galaxy sample of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 8 (SDSS DR8), we investigate correlations between galaxy morphology and star formation rate (SFR), specific star formation rate (SSFR) and stellar mass at different environmental density levels. For each sample, three subsamples at both density extremes and at the median density are selected. We found that examining either of our two volume-limited Main samples leads to the same conclusion: at different environmental density levels, SFR, SSFR and stellar mass are strongly correlated with galaxy morphology, which shows that SFR, SSFR and stellar mass of a galaxy depend on its environment as well as its morphology.  相似文献
