The 110th Anniversary of the Geographical Society of China(GSC)&the China Conference on Geography 2019 was held at China National Convention Center(CNCC),Beijing,China and Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research,Chinese Academy of Sciences(IGNSRR)from November 1st to 3rd,2019.Under the theme of“Innovation,Development and Glory–Theory and Practice of Chinese Geography”,the event attracted about 3000 participants from more than 20 countries of the world.

The 5th International Symposium on the Tibetan Plateau/The 24th Himalaya - Karakorum-Tibet Workshop Joint Conference was held on August 11-14 in Beijing, China. The Joint Conference was hosted by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), The Ministry of Land and Resources of China (MLR) and People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR). Journal Name Change

The Journal of Chinese Geography will be changed into Journal of Geographical Sciences in 2001 to correspond to the merge of the Institute of Geography with Commission for Integrated Survey of Natural Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) which is now the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS. Prof. YU Guirui,associate editor-in-chief of JRE,was elected as Academician of Chinese Academy of Science in 2019

Professor Yu,elected as an Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS)in 2019,is a chief research scientist in the Key Laboratory of Ecosystem Network Observation and Modeling,Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research,Chinese Academy of Sciences.He received his PhD in soil science from Shenyang Agricultural University in 1993,and his PhD in environmental science from Chiba University in Japan in 1997.He was elected by the CAS 100-Talent Program in 1999,and was a beneficiary of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2002.He serves as a chair of ChinaFLUX and AsiaFlux,and is the chief editor of the Journal of Applied Ecology.     

2019年亚洲地理大会理事会在北京召开

On November 1st,2019,Council Meeting of the Asian Geographical Association(AGA)was held at Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Beijing,China.The meeting was chaired by Prof.Dahe Qin,who is President of the Asian Geographical Association,Director of Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Former Administrator of China Meteorological Administration.At first,he extended his warm welcome to all the participants present and gave a brief review on the establishment of the Asian Geographical Association.Then,he introduced invited guests and representatives from member organizations of AGA and announced the agenda of the meeting.

正Dr. Zhang Xianzhou received his Ph D degree in Ecology from former Commission for Integrated Survey of Natural Resources(CISNAR), Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1999. He is the professor of Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research(IGSNRR), Chinese Academy of Sciences. He serves as a current editorial board member of Journal of Resources and Ecology. He is also the deputy director of the China Society on the Tibet Plateau(CSTP), the director of the Ecosystem and Biological Resources Committee and China Society of Natural Resources(CSNR).
