Lithological observations and mineralogical analyses on pyroxene and hornblende megacrysts and pyroxene and hornblende cumulates in xenoliths in the Mesozoic plutons of the Tongling region, Anhui Province, provide evidence for the magmatic underplating of mantle-derived alkali-olivine basalt at circa 140 Ma. The pyroxene and hornblende megacrysts and cumulates were formed through the AFC process at depths ranging from 27 to 35 km.  相似文献

The tuff and basanite of Rosenberg 20 km NW of Kassel are thus far unknown occurrences of megacrysts and polycrystalline aggregates of pargasitic-kaersutitic amphibole and of xenoliths of amphibole-bearing peridotite and pyroxenite. The amphiboles precipitated successively with gradually increasing Fe/Mg from the same magma from which the basanite was ultimately derived. The amphibole fractionation commenced within the upper mantle but may have continued into higher levels within the ascending melt.Amphibole and phlogopite fractionation together caused an increased Na/K ratio in the Rosenberg basanite. The crystallization of amphibole and phlogopite is genetically interrelated with the violent eruptive nature of the Rosenberg volcano. The release of vapour during the final stage of amphibole crystallization is indicated by the existence of coarsely vesicular amphibole megacrysts.  相似文献

Green, salitic pyroxenes occur as megacrysts and as cores in diopsidic pyroxene phenocrysts and microphenocrysts in a wyomingite lava from Hatcher Mesa, Leucite Hills, Wyoming. Al-rich phlogopite (16–21% Al2O3), apatite, Fe-Ti-oxide, Mg-rich olivine (Fo93) and orthopyroxene (En61) also occur as megacrysts or as inclusions in diopside phenocrysts. All of these phases are found in ultramafic xenoliths in the host lava, and petrographic and chemical evidence is presented that the megacrysts originate by the disaggregation of the xenoliths. It is concluded that the latter are accidental fragments of the wall rocks traversed by the wyomingite magma and it is suggested that the clinopyroxene-rich xenoliths, from which the green pyroxenes are derived, formed in the upper mantle as a result of local metasomatism or by crystallization from magmas of unknown composition during an earlier igneous event. The precise role of the clinopyroxene-rich xenoliths (which also contain apatite, Fe-Ti-oxide and amphibole) in the genesis of the Leucite Hills magmas cannot be elucidated on the basis of the available data, but it is unlikely that they represent the source material from which these magmas are derived.  相似文献

In an effort to obtain information about mineral/melt trace element partitioning during the high pressure petrogenesis of basic rocks, we determined rare earth and other trace element abundances in megacrysts of clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene, amphibole, mica, anorthoclase, apatite and zircon, and in their host basalts. In general, the ranges of mineral/melt partition coefficients established from experimental partitioning studies and phenocryst/matrix measurements overlap with the ranges of megacryst/host abundance ratios. Our data for Hf, Sc, Ta and Th partitioning represent some of the only estimates available. Consideration of phase equilibria, major element partitioning and isotopic ratios indicate that most of the pyroxene and amphibole megacrysts may have been in equilibrium with their host magmas at high pressures (mostly 10–25 kb). In contrast, it is unlikely that mica, anorthoclase, apatite and zircon megacrysts formed in equilibrium with their host basalts; instead, we conclude that they were precipitated from more evolved magmas and have been mixed into their present host magmas. Consequently, the trace element abundance ratios for megacryst/host should not be interpreted as partition coefficients, but only as guides for understanding trace element partitioning during high pressure petrogenesis. With this caveat, we conclude that the megacryst/ host trace element abundance data indicate that mineral/melt partition coefficients in basaltic systems during high pressure fractionation are not drastically different from partition coefficients valid for low pressure fractionation.  相似文献

张家洼矽卡岩型铁矿位于华北克拉通东南部,赋存在石炭系本溪组与奥陶系马家沟组之间的假整合面处及闪长岩体与奥陶系马家沟组大理岩的接触带附近,富铁矿石资源量已达大型规模。研究发现矽卡岩矿物种类在内外接触带分布有一定区别,内带为石榴石等钙质矽卡岩矿物,而外带为阳起石、金云母等镁质矽卡岩矿物,整体构成钙镁质矽卡岩。对矽卡岩矿物系统的研究表明,透辉石及石榴石发育有环带,其氧化物含量随矿物环带的形成比例不断变化,暗示酸碱度及氧逸度随着成矿流体的演化而发生相应的变化,即由早期矽卡岩阶段的相对还原的酸性环境演化为退化蚀变阶段相对氧化的碱性环境从而导致铁质逐渐萃取多次富集、沉淀,后期随着磁铁矿的沉淀又逐渐在硫化物阶段转化为还原环境生成金属硫化物。  相似文献

The petrology and mineralogy of lawsonite zone metabasites have been studied northeast of town of Tav?anli, NW Turkey. In the field the metabasites are characteristically green and lack foliation; the essential mineral assemblage being sodic pyroxene+ lawsonite+chlorite+quartz±sodic amphibole. Sodic pyroxene of aegirine-jadeite composition occurs as pseudomorphs after magmatic augite. Lawsonite and chlorite are the other two dominant minerals. Sodic amphibole forms progressively from a reaction between sodic pyroxene, chlorite and quartz, and an isograd representing the first abundant occurrence of sodic amphibole in basic rocks has been mapped. The widespread occurrence of sodic pyroxene pseudomorphs in other blueschist terrains indicates that the inferred sodic amphibole producing reaction is of general significance for blueschist metabasites.The conversion of greenstones with the assemblage albite+chlorite+actinolite directly into glaucophane-lawsonite blueschists without any intervening lawsonite zone illustrates the influence of the initial mineral assemblage on the reaction path.  相似文献

Exsolution lamellae of garnet in clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene porphyroclasts from garnet pyroxenites in the Moldanubian zone were studied to elucidate the pressure–temperature conditions of the exsolution process and to reconstruct the burial and exhumation path of ultramafic rocks in the Variscan orogen. The porphyroclasts occur in a fine-grained matrix with metamorphic fabrics, which consists of clinopyroxene and small amounts of garnet, orthopyroxene and amphibole. The clinopyroxene porphyroclasts contain garnet + orthopyroxene lamellae as well as ilmenite rods that have orientation parallel to (100) planes of the porphyroclasts. Orthopyroxene porphyroclasts host garnet and clinopyroxene lamellae, which show the same lattice preferred orientation. In both cases, lamellar orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene and garnet were partially replaced by secondary amphibole. Composition of exsolution phases and that of host pyroxene were reintegrated according to measured modal proportions and demonstrate that the primary pyroxene was enriched in Al and contained 8–11 mol.% Tschermak components. Conventional thermobarometry and thermodynamic modelling on the reintegrated pyroxene indicate that primary clinopyroxene and orthopyroxene megacrysts crystallized at 1300–1400 °C and 2.2–2.5 GPa. Unmixing and exsolution of garnet and a second pyroxene phase occurred in response to cooling and pressure increase before the peak pressure of 4.5–5.0 GPa was reached at ∼1100 °C. This scenario is consistent with a burial of hot upper-mantle ultramafics into a cold subcratonic environment and subsequent exhumation through 900 °C and 2.2–3.3 GPa, when the pyroxenites would have partially recrystallized during tectonic incorporation into eclogites and felsic granulites.  相似文献

Albite gneisses containing up to 8.7 percent Na2O and as little as 0.1% K2O comprise a significant part of the Proterozoic Lyon Mountain Gneiss in the Ausable Forks Quadrangle of the northeastern Adirondacks, New York State. Two distinct types of albite gneisses are present. One is a trondhjemitic leucogneiss (LAG) consisting principally of albite (Ab95–Ab98) and quartz with minor magnetite and, locally, minor amounts of amphibole or acmiterich pyroxene. LAG probably originated by metamorphism of a rhyolitie or rhyodacitic ash-flow tuff with A-type geochemical affinities, following post-depositional analcitization in a saline or saline-alkaline environment. The other type is a mafic albite gneiss (MAG) containing albite and pyroxene along with 0–45 percent quartz, minor amphibole, and titanite. MAG locally displays pinstripe banding and contains albite (Ab98) megacrysts up to 5 cm across. Its precursor may have been a sediment composed of diagenetic analcite or albite, dolomite, and quartz. Both types of albite gneiss are interlayered with granitic gneisses (LMG) of variable composition derived from less altered tuffs. A potassium-rich (up to 9.7% K2O) microcline gneiss facies may have had a protolith rich in diagenetic K feldspar. We propose that the albite gneisses and associated granitic gneisses are the granulite-facies metamorphic equivalent of a bimodal, dominantly felsic, volcanic suite with minor intercalated sediments, probably including evaporites. The volcanics were erupted in an anorogenic setting, such as an incipient or failed intracontinental rift. Deposition took place in a closed-basin, playa lake environment, where diagenetic alteration resulted in redistribution of the alkalis and strong oxidation.  相似文献

Amphibole has been discussed to potentially represent an important phase during early chemical evolution of arc magmas, but is not commonly observed in eruptive arc rocks. Here, we present an in-depth study of metastable calcic amphibole megacrysts in basaltic andesites of Merapi volcano, Indonesia. Radiogenic Sr and Nd isotope compositions of the amphibole megacrysts overlap with the host rock range, indicating that they represent antecrysts to the host magmas rather than xenocrysts. Amphibole-based barometry suggests that the megacrysts crystallised at pressures of >500 MPa, i.e., in the mid- to lower crust beneath Merapi. Rare-earth element concentrations, in turn, require the absence of magmatic garnet in the Merapi feeding system and, therefore, place an uppermost limit for the pressure of amphibole crystallisation at ca. 800 MPa. The host magmas of the megacrysts seem to have fractionated significant amounts of amphibole and/or clinopyroxene, because of their low Dy/Yb ratios relative to the estimated compositions of the parent magmas to the megacrysts. The megacrysts’ parent magmas at depth may thus have evolved by amphibole fractionation, in line with apparently coupled variations of trace element ratios in the megacrysts, such as e.g., decreasing Zr/Hf with Dy/Yb. Moreover, the Th/U ratios of the amphibole megacrysts decrease with increasing Dy/Yb and are lower than Th/U ratios in the basaltic andesite host rocks. Uranium in the megacrysts’ parent magmas, therefore, may have occurred predominantly in the tetravalent state, suggesting that magmatic fO2 in the Merapi plumbing system increased from below the FMQ buffer in the mid-to-lower crust to 0.6–2.2 log units above it in the near surface environment. In addition, some of the amphibole megacrysts experienced dehydrogenation (H2 loss) and/or dehydration (H2O loss), as recorded by their variable H2O contents and D/H and Fe3+/Fe2+ ratios, and the release of these volatile species into the shallow plumbing system may facilitate Merapi’s often erratic eruptive behaviour.  相似文献

High pressure cognate inclusions in the Newer Volcanics of Victoria   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6  
High pressure pyroxene- and amphibole-rich inclusions are found in a number of Victorian Newer Volcanics volcanoes. The host lavas range from nepheline basanite to nepheline hawaiite and nepheline mugearite. The wide variation in chemistry and mineralogy of the inclusions is explained by crystallization from basaltic magmas under varying P-T and PH2O conditions at depth. At moderate pressure wehrlite inclusions (ol+cpx) form, whereas at higher pressures pyroxenites (opx+cpx) and genetically related megacrysts form. Under relatively anhydrous conditions the clinopyroxene megacrysts show a trend of Ca enrichment whereas under hydrous conditions, when amphibole is also stable, the pyroxene shows a trend to greater iron enrichment. The trend nepheline basanite to nepheline mugearite has developed by extensive fractionation of amphibole at elevated pressures under hydrous conditions. Under less hydrous conditions where clinopyroxene assumes the dominant role during crystal fractionation, derivative liquids display a trend of increasing K2O/Na2O ratio, with little modification of their level of undersaturation. Olivine plays a decreasing role in crystal fractionation processes with increasing pressure. The available evidence indicates that the only magma which could have been parental to the observed basanites was a more picritic basanite.  相似文献

本文对安徽女山、河北汉诺坝和广东普宁碱性玄武岩中的单斜辉石和角闪石巨晶进行了主要元素、稀土元素、微量元天和Sr_Nd同位素的综合分析。数据显示产出于3个研究区的单斜辉石巨晶有3类:Al普通辉石、透辉石和Fe_Na透辉石。普宁地区的角闪石巨晶乃世界上罕见的绿钙闪石巨晶。女山和普宁的单斜辉石和角闪石巨晶是碱性玄武岩浆在幔源高压下的结晶产物;汉诺坝的单斜辉石巨晶既可以是碱性玄武岩浆又可以是拉斑玄武岩浆的高压结晶体。所有巨晶相对于寄主岩者属于偶然捕掳晶。巨晶的形成符合“流动结晶模式”。它们与共存的橄榄岩色体无成因  相似文献

本文以曾经遭受强烈热液交代的含金石英闪长岩为研究对象,首次尝试性探索金矿石RbSr等时线测年研究。结果表明,在特定的热液蚀变矿物组合(不含绿帘石,以石英±绿泥石±绢云母±钠长石为主),强烈热液蚀变(黄铁矿化度(DOP)>70%)以及锶同位素初始组成基本达到均一化的前提条件下,其RbSr等时线具确定的成矿地质意义,可代表后期热液蚀变年龄,这将为研究热液成矿年龄并进而探讨成矿机理提供又一可能的新途经。  相似文献

Quaternary Erzincan Volcanics (QEVs) from the Erzincan Basin consist of mega- and pheno-cryst-bearing high-K calc-alkaline dome lavas. Fourteen nearly phenocrystic domes, with a range of basaltic-andesite, andesite, dacite and rhyolite compositions, were emplaced in the North Anatolian Fault Zone. The emplacement ages yielded by the unspiked K–Ar technique range from 102 to 140 ka. The andesitic domes (each less than 3 km in diameter) contain amphibole megacrysts. Amphibole compositions show a linear variation from ferro-edenite, edenite to pargasite from rhyolite to andesite. Pargasitic amphibole megacrysts scattered into the groundmass are very similar in composition to the microlites. All plagioclases are 53 mol%. Oscillation types are An32−50 whose variations range from 10 to 16 mol% An and have 10–150 μm in thickness. Pre-eruptive conditions, calculated from mega- and pheno-cryst composition, using pyroxene and two oxide thermometers and the Al-in-hornblende barometer, ranged from 918 to 837 °C and 6.6 to 4.3 kbar for andesitic magma, 824–755 °C and 4.6–4.2 kbar for dacitic magma to 803–692 °C and 4.3–3.9 kbar for rhyolitic magma, which correspond to a depth of >10 km for storage region of the crust. The fO2 values vary from −14.25 to −15.35 log units which are plotted just below nickel–nickel oxide (NNO) buffers. The systematic decrease in thermobarometric results from andesite to rhyolite is consistent with a single magma reservoir moving upward through the crust followed by fractional crystallization. Textural and compositional relationships of mega- and pheno-crystic phases suggest that magma mixing, fluid input to the reservoir and fractional crystallization processes, with a small amount crustal contamination play key role in evolution of the QEVs.  相似文献

Strontium isotopic data for megacrysts and lavas from six eruptive centers within the Newer Basalts province of southeastern Australia show that megacrysts of clinopyroxene are in isotopic equilibrium with associated basalts, but that megacrysts of kaersutite, ferrokaersutite, orthopyroxene and anorthoclase may exhibit slight disequilibrium with their host basalts. Furthermore, the anorthoclase megacrysts may be either more or less radiogenic than their hosts. The 87Sr/86Sr ratios for 14 basalts from throughout the province vary from 0.7035 to 0.7045 and it is proposed that anorthoclase, amphibole and orthopyroxene megacrysts which crystallized in isotopic equilibrium with one magma may have been caught up in a pulse of a later magma of a different isotopic composition. The variations in the 87Sr/86Sr ratios for the basalts are attributed to variations in the isotopic composition of their source regions. Such isotopic heterogeneity is supported by published data for ultramafic xenoliths which occur in the Newer Basalts lavas.  相似文献

Ca- and Na-rich pyroxene-amphibole compositions and textures from a range of felsic alkaline rocks have been studied in detail. The data indicate that in a single sample, when amphibole crystallizes, a gap is observed between Ca- and Na-rich pyroxene compositions. This break in composition is analogous to Aoki's (1964) immiscibility gap between Ca-and Na-rich pyroxenes and can be overlooked when considering pyroxene compositions from a suite of rocks. The role of volatiles in governing the stability and composition of amphiboles is discussed. The presence of late crystallizing Na-rich pyroxene is related to the development of peralkinity in the late-stage melts.On extrusion, many alkaline rocks lose their volatiles and amphibole is absent. In these rocks complete zoning from Ca-rich to Na-rich pyroxene compositions are observed within the one sample.  相似文献

Spinel lherzolite nodules, composed of olivine (Fo88.7?89.2), clinepyroxene (6.5% Al2O3) and Al-rich spinel, and websterite nodules as well as megacrysts of clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene and magnetite occur in a monchiquite at Streap, Scotland. Petrographic data are given and microprobe analyses of coexisting phases in six spinel lherzolite nodules and one websterite nodule are reported, along with analyses of both types of pyroxene megacrysts. The spinel lherzolites show internal chemical homogeneity, and their mineral chemistries suggest equilibrium conditions of 1100–1200°C and 14–23 kb. The websterite nodules are, on the basis of mineral chemistry and petrography, considered to be crustal material. The megacrysts constitute a separate group, differing in composition from analogous phases in associated lherzolites and websterites as well as from monchiquite phenocryst phases, and show systematic chemical variations corresponding to low pressure crystal fractionation processes.  相似文献

Summary A suite of clinopyroxene and amphibole megacrysts and mafic–ultramafic xenoliths are present in ignimbritic rocks of trachybasaltic–andesitic composition from the Sirwa volcanic district, Morocco. The stumpy prismatic and sometimes euhedral clinopyroxene megacrysts are Ti–Al-rich diopsides with mg values in the range 0.82–0.87 and Ca/(Ca + Mg) ratios in the range 0.53–0.54. The prismatic, elongated amphibole megacrysts are calcic kaersutites–kaersutites with a narrow mg range (0.66–0.68). The xenoliths are represented by gabbroic and pyroxenitic types. In the gabbroic xenoliths two distinct textural types can be distinguished: medium-sized granular and banded. The granular type is characterized by the mineral assemblage Pl + Amph + Spl + Ilm + Ap. The banded type is distinct for the absence of Ilm and the presence of Cpx and Opx and shows alternating bands enriched in Pl and Amph, respectively. The megacrysts and, probably, the xenoliths are considered not cognate with the present host rocks since the calculated liquids in equilibrium with clinopyroxene and amphibole megacrysts over a wide range of physical conditions have different trace and rare earth element contents. The observed phase relations and thermobarometric calculations indicate that the megacrysts and xenoliths crystallized from their parent melts at P ≥ 10 kbar and T ≤ 1160 °C, i.e., in the upper mantle or near the crust-mantle boundary. A deep ( ≥ 30 km) magmatic chamber, where the megacrysts and xenoliths originated, and a shallow volcanic chamber, energetically activated up to explosive conditions by injection of deep-originated melts, is suggested to explain the occurrence of high-pressure megacrysts and xenoliths in the Sirwa volcanic explosive products.
