从LEO卫星观测到的掩星数据可以反演地球大气的气压、水汽、温度等廓线;它们对气象和大气科学研究是有价值的数据资源.掩星数据资料的同化技术可以有效地改进这些气象参数廓线,从而改进目前的数值天气预报精度.把掩星观测参数廓线用变分同化方法进入气象业务流程的最大困难是它的计算量太大,通过对一维变分同化价值函数进行改进和对迭代流程进行新的设计,避免了反复计算大维数矩阵的缺点,从而提高了变分同化的计算效率.在适用性讨论中,用背景场向量加上1个高斯白噪声作为真实值来检验CHAMP掩星资料变分同化的结果.  相似文献

In recent years, the technique of Global Positioning System/Low Earth Orbit (GPS/LEO) radio occultation has opened up a new route for exploring the earth atmosphere. With this technique, the vertical profiles of pressure, temperature, water vapor of the earth atmosphere can be retrieved from GPS/LEO occultation data, thus making the latter a potentially valuable data resource for meteorological and atmospheric sciences. The technique may effectively improve the quality of the meteorological profiles, and so improve the current numerical weather forecasting model. In the one-dimensional variational (1DVAR) assimilation retrieval technique in current use, the profiles of atmospheric water vapor and temperature, as well as the sea level pressure are retrieved by assimilating the atmospheric refractivity or bending angle profile from GPS/LEO occultation data. In the system independently developed at Shanghai Observatory, the 1DVAR assimilation of CPS occultation data is accomplished by the Levenberg-Marquardt method with the analytical data from the European Center for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (ECMWF) as the background field, the refractivity profile obtained from CHAMP occultation data as the observational quantity. The result was checked with sounding balloon data near the occultation points.  相似文献

简单介绍了无线电掩星技术探测行星大气的发展史,列举了该技术中存在的若干问题。从 Eyre提出的统计学的最优估计反演方法,比较了用相位、弯曲角和折射率作为同化因子时出现的问题和各自的优缺点。对弯曲角同化因子,以欧洲中期天气预报中心(ECMWF)资料为背景场,运用一维变分技术,进行CHAMP掩星观测资料变分同化反演,从而获得水汽和温度剖面。将反演获得的气象剖面与非同化的剖面作比较,并且采用相应的探空气球资料作为验证,可以看出变分同化技术比传统的标准反演技术反演误差小。证实掩星数据资料的一维变分同化技术可以改进目前的数值天气预报模式。  相似文献

近年来,GPS/LEO(全球定位系统/低地球轨道)卫星无线电掩星技术给出了地球大气探测的新途径.从LEO卫星观测到的掩星数据可以反演的地球大气的气压、水汽、温度等剖面;它们对气象和大气科学研究,是具有潜在价值的数据资源.掩星数据资料的同化技术可以有效地改进这些气象参数的剖面,从而改进目前的数值天气预报模式.在当前采用的一维变分同化反演技术中,可以用掩星观测资料的大气折射率或弯曲角剖面进行同化,来反演大气水汽和温度剖面以及海平面压强.作为独立自主开发的GPD/LEO掩星技术系统的一部分,以欧洲中尺度天气预报分析(ECMWF)资料为背景场,CHAMP 掩星观测得到的折射率剖面为观测值,采用Levenberg—Marquardt方法实行GPS掩星资料一维变分同化.在讨论中,用掩星观测点附近相应的探空气球资料来检验CHAMP掩星资料变分同化的结果.  相似文献

We describe an assimilation of thermal profiles below about 40 km altitude and total dust opacities into a general circulation model (GCM) of the martian atmosphere. The data were provided by the Thermal Emission Spectrometer (TES) on board the Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) spacecraft. The results of the assimilation are verified against an independent source of contemporaneous data represented by radio occultation measurements with an ultra-stable radio oscillator, also aboard MGS. This paper describes a comparison between temperature profiles retrieved by the radio occultation experiments and the corresponding profiles given by both an independent, carefully tuned GCM simulation and by an assimilation of TES observations performed over the period of time from middle, northern summer in martian year 24, corresponding to May 1999, until late, northern spring in martian year 27, corresponding to August 2004. This study shows that the assimilation of TES measurements improves the overall agreement between radio occultation observations and the GCM analysis, in particular below 20 km altitude, where the radio occultation measurements are known to be most accurate. Discrepancies still remain, mostly during the global dust storm of year 2001 and at latitudes around 60° N in northern winter-early spring. These are the periods of time and locations, however, for which discrepancies between TES and radio occultation profiles are also shown to be the largest. Finally, a further direct validation is performed, comparing stationary waves at selected latitudes and time of year. Apart from biases at high latitudes in winter time, data assimilation is able to represent the correct wave behaviour, which is one major objective for martian assimilation.  相似文献

With the development of the CPS (Global Positioning System) it has become possible to retrieve accurate profiles of atmospheric temperature, pressure and moisture from CPS occultation data. Using the inversion module developed in Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, (SHAG), we obtained atmospheric profiles from more than 2700 CHAMP occultation events observed in the period 2002 Aug. 1–17. The retrieved profiles are compared with the data of the European Center for Medium-range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), and their errors are analyzed. An optimal method of statistical analysis is proposed and applied. The statistical results show that GPS occultation data may contribute valuably to numerical weather forecast and long-term monitoring of the earth's climate.  相似文献

对中俄联合火星星-星电离层掩星技术体制进行了分析和介绍,采用三维射线追踪方法对电离层掩星事件的电波观测值进行了模拟计算,并利用模拟的掩星观测数据进行了电子密度廓线反演,结果说明仿真算法可靠.利用仿真的方法,分别对掩星电波相位观测误差和卫星轨道误差等带来的反演误差进行了个例计算和分析,结果得到:5%周的相位测量误差对白天电离层掩星探测结果的影响可以忽略,而夜间电子密度测量的绝对误差小于4×108 m-3;卫星轨道误差对掩星的主要影响是导致电离层高度抬升或下降.结果表明,中俄联合火星电离层掩星探测技术体制先进,可望获得高精度的电子密度廓线;其技术体制也可以用于月球电离层环境的探测.  相似文献

The signals of Global Navigation Satellites have found a large number of uses in atmospheric and ionospheric research. Reception of the signals from a satellite in a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) leads regularly to occultation of the signals by the surface of the Earth. Before an occultation the signals traverse the ionosphere with rays with decreasing height of their perigees. Satellite electron content observed prior to ‘setting’ occultations or after `rising' occultations can be used as input data for inversion. The inversion procedure gives horizontally averaged height profiles of electron density.Assessment studies are needed to find out under which conditions the profiles from inversions are representative for ‘true’ electron density profiles above the Earth occultation point.A great number of such studies have been carried out using the ionosphere/plasmasphere model NeUOG-plas for forward and backward modelling. Different transmitter-receiver scenarios have been investigated.We describe the assessment procedure and report on results showing the most interesting cases and statistics.  相似文献

简要地介绍了GPS/LEO卫星无线电掩星技术的基本原理、意义以及国际上的最近动态 ,列举了几个主要的LEO卫星计划 ;重点分析了GPS掩星探测地球大气技术中需要注意的若干问题 ,并推出可能采取的改进方案和相应的技术路线。上海天文台在GPS/LEO空基气象学中已经成功地提出 :通过通约LEO/GPS轨道方法 ,实现掩星地面观测点控制的新思路。作为一个应用实例 ,针对东中国海洋上空大气状况对中国东部经济发达的地区特别是上海地区的天气有着重要影响的背景 ,提出利用通约LEO/GPS卫星可对该地区大气实施监控。为了充分利用GPS/LEO掩星观测资源 ,上海天文台开展了振幅反演的计算方法研究 ;提出了在振幅反演中存在着无线电信号几何衰减和物理衰减两种不同的衰减机制 ,并考虑了它们的数学模型以及对反演结果的影响。简要地叙述了掩星质量因子的定义和计算方法。作为国内天文地球动力学研究中心 ,上海天文台将与国内外一些合作单位考虑建立GPS/LEO掩星技术观测处理的软件系统。作为空基GPS气象学的推广 ,还考虑进行山基和飞机载掩星观测实验 ,论证用这些方法监测局部大气剖面的可行性以及它们在国民经济和科学研究上的作用  相似文献

Fluctuations are observed during occultations of both stars and spacecraft by planetary atmospheres. Existing treatments of spacecraft scintillations ignore a major effect unique to occultations: the severe flattening of the Fresnel zone or source image by defocusing. Other large effects, due to “saturation” of the scintillation, have also been ignored. The deeper portions of atmospheric temperature and density profiles inferred from occultation data are seriously in error if other planets' atmospheres are as turbulent as our own. Thus, profiles obtained from entry probes (e.g., the Soviet Venera series) are probably more accurate than those from radio occultation (Mariner 5 and 10) data. Scintillation greatly reduces the information obtainable from occultation observations; much of the detail attributed to layering in published profiles is probably due to aliasing of turbulence. This paper gives an approximately correct theoretical treatment that is a substantial improvement over published theories, and shows how a more accurate theory could be constructed. Some methods for a more accurate determination of atmospheric structure are proposed.  相似文献

Radio occultation studies of planetary atmospheres and ionospheres are based on measurements of the frequency and amplitude of the received radio signal. These measurements have random errors due to noise in the receiving system and linearly mapped into atmospheric profiles to give uncertainties can be estimated from the data and linearly mapped into atmospheric profiles to give uncertainties in temperature, T, pressure, p, and absorption profiles. For Mariner 10 occultation immersion at Venus, the standard deviations of T and p due to receiver noise are less than 2° K and 2 mbar over the range of radii from 6087 to 6140 km, based on our reduction from analog, “ open-loop” data. The temperature has a systematic error due to boundary uncertainty, estimated to be 50°K at 6140 km, that decays rapidly with depth; below 6117 km, it is less than 0.5°K. For the attenuation profile, systematic errors incurred during our calculations are more important than statistical errors. We estimate an upper bound to the uncertainty which is 32% at the peak value of absorption, which is about 0.01 db/km and occurs at a radius of 6096 km. A calculation of the 95% confidence limits for T profiles indicates that the local deviations are statistically significant to about 1°K or less. We have also analyzed “closed-loop” data to give temperature profiles which deviate from the open-loop results by less than 0.2°K below 6110 km but by as much as 2°K in the upper atmosphere. For the same occultation and the same boundary conditions, our closed-loop T-p profile is within 2°K of that of P. D. Nicholson and D. O. Muhleman but differs from those derived by A. J. Kliore by as much as 10°K. We cannot account for deviations as large as the latter by minor differences in trajectory information or computational methods.  相似文献

The occultation of bright star HIP9369 by the northern polar region of Jupiter was observed from four locations in North and South America, providing four data sets for ingress and egress. The inversion of the eight occultation lightcurves provides temperature profiles at different latitudes ranging from 55°N to 73.2°N. We estimate the errors on the profiles due to the uncertainties of the inversion method and compare the value of the temperature at the deepest level probed (∼ 50 μbar) with previous observations. The shape of the temperature gradient profile is found similar to previous investigations of planetary atmospheres with propagating and breaking gravity waves. We analyze the small scale structures in both lightcurves and temperature profiles using the continuous wavelet transform. The calculated power spectra of localized fluctuations in the temperature profiles show slopes close to −3 for all eight profiles. We also isolate and reconstruct the three-dimensional geometry of a single wave mode with vertical and horizontal wavelengths of respectively 3 and 70 km. The identified wave is consistent with the gravity wave regime, with a horizontal phase speed nearly parallel to the planetary meridian. Nevertheless, the dissipation of the corresponding wave in Jupiter’s stratosphere should preclude its detection at the observed levels and an acoustic wave cannot be ruled out.  相似文献

The oblateness of the Martian upper atmosphere was determined from analysis of photoelectric observations of the 8 April 1976 occultation of ε Geminorum by Mars at seven stations. The oblatness is 0.0096 ± 0.0023, consistent with a mean equator-to-pole temperature difference in excess of ~ 50°K, vertically averaged from the surface to the occulation altitude of ~70 km. The astrometric solution provides precise determination of the occultation path relative to the Martian shadow, and absolute vertical alignment of upper atmospheric temperature profiles obtained by inversion of occultation light curves. The observations can be compared directly with models of atmospheric tides computed for the conditions at the suboccultation regions on Mars.  相似文献

In the first two sections of this paper, the two basic methods of reducing occultation light curves—curve fitting and inversion—are reviewed and compared. It is shown that the curve fitting methods have severe problems of nonuniqueness. In addition, in the case of occultation curves dominated by spikes, it is not clear that such solutions are meaningful. The inversion method does not suffer from these drawbacks. Methods of deriving temperature profiles from refractivity profiles are dealt with in the third section. It is shown that, although the temperature profiles are sensitive to small errors in the refractivity profile, accurate temperatures can be obtained, particularly at the deeper levels of the atmosphere. The final section contains a brief discussion of the ambiguities that arise when the occultation curve straddles the turbopause.  相似文献

Based on the data of 210 ground meteorological stations over China from 1961 to 2008, an empirical relation between the ground water vapor pressure and precipitation has been discovered. Then the equations used for estimating the ground water vapor pressure based on the precipitation are developed, and thereby to derive the atmospheric water vapor content, which is one of the important parameters for astronomical site survey. The results of this study show that in different seasons, there exists a stable correlative relation between ground water vapor pressure and precipitation, the water vapor pressures calculated from the precipitation data of different areas are consistent with the local practical measurements, and that the calculated atmospheric water vapor contents correspond well to the local long-term averages.  相似文献

We present an exact calculation for the photon-average bending angle and intensity produced during occultation of a point source by an isothermal atmosphere with an exponential height dependence of turbulent power. The calculation is performed via an expansion in powers of the gradients of average refractivity and turbulent power. Conditions for the validity of the expansion are discussed. We compare results with other expressions, for the same distribution of refractivity, recently presented by V. R. Eshleman and B. S. Haugstad. Discrepancies are noted. Certain properties of photon averages, which may be of importance for the reduction of occultation data, are discussed.  相似文献

随着GPS全球定位系统的发展,已经有可能使用GPS掩星技术反演精确的大气温度,压强和湿度剖面.在概要地描述上海天文台(SHAO)开发的GPS掩星数据资料反演地球大气流程模块以后,分析了2002年8月1日至2002年8月17日期间2700多次CHAMP掩星数据资料的结果,并且与欧洲中尺度天气预报分析(ECMWF)资料进行比较和统计分析,讨论了CHAMP掩星数据的质量,并分析了CHAMP掩星数据的观测误差和ECMWF的分析模型误差.提出了一种优化的统计分析方法,它能更客观地反映GPS掩星技术的外部符合.统计分析结果表明GPS掩星数据将有可能成为数值天气预报和长期监测地球气候的非常有价值的数据资料.  相似文献
