Four situations are shown where the Schwarzschild metric cannot be used or is subject to unsurmountable problems. The first is the question of a metric useful for PPN-formalism checking different gravitational theories. The second problem occurs in connection with Mach's principle, when the flatness of the spacetime inside a massive hollow sphere is a generally accepted solution. The metrical discontinuity on the same spherical shell is a third problem. The fourth one is the anisotropy of the mass-energy of a test particle in the gravitational field. Three principles for solution are proposed:
  1. The space is not dilated, but rather contracted, in the gravitational field; then the measurement-rods are shorter and measured distances have greater magnitudes.
  2. The potential energy is to be related to a potential level where a stationary observer is placed and the general relativistic potential must be used.
  3. A new metric must be introduced which is distinct from the Schwarzschild metric, so that the space in the gravitational field is warped isotropically.
Then the problems stated are shown to be easily solvable.  相似文献

In Section 1 of the paper the energy equation of the Friedmann universe, when matter dominates over radiation, is discussed. It is known that the value of the world potential is constant everywhere in the Universe, despite the pulsation motion of the Universe or a possible transformation of pulsation energy into matter or vice versa. The condition for the Universe being closed is deduced. Furthermore, the possibility to define the mass-energy of the Universe is discussed; and the conclusion is arrived at that the mass-energy of the Universe relative to an observer in the non-metric space outside the Universe is equal to zero; i.e. the Universe originated as a vacuum fluctuation. Finally, the view-point of an external observer is described. Such an observer can claim that our closed Universe is a black hole in a non-metric empty space. Besides, the differences between such a black hole and the astrophysical black holes are indicated. In Section 2 the origin of the gravitational force retarding the expansion is discussed, using the properties of the relativistic gravitational potential. In contradiction to Section 1, the view-point of an inner observer (inside the Universe) is used here. It is concluded that the boundary of the closed Universe is an unlocalizable potential barrier. In Section 3 of the paper the apparent discrepancy between Mach's principle and the general theory of relativity is resolved. The solution is based on the fact that, for the Euclidean open universe, the concept of mass is related to the potential of the background equal to –1, but the concept of the mass-energy is related to the zero-potential of the non-metric background. Because the universe is open and a potential barrier (a boundary of the universe) can be localized-i.e. is geometrically existing — by solution of the field equation, we have to refer to the background with zero-potential. The principal idea of the solution is then that the zero-density means the density of mass-energy, when simultaneously the mass density is equal to the critical value for which the Robertson-Walker metric becomes the Euclidean metric of the Minkowski (i.e., flat) space-time. Further a generalization of Newton's law of inertia is formulated, and the properties of nullgeodesics are touched upon. As a conclusion it is stated that this paper and the two previous ones (see Voráek, 1979a, b)de facto express Mach's principle.  相似文献

Einstein's general relativity predicts that pressure, in general stresses, plays a similar role to energy density,  ε=ρ c 2  (with ρ being the corresponding mass density), in generating gravity. The source of gravitational field, the active gravitational mass density, sometimes referred to as Whittaker's mass density, is  ρgrav=ρ+ 3 p / c 2  , where p is pressure in the case of an ideal fluid. Whittaker's mass is not conserved, hence its changes can propagate as monopole gravitational waves. Such waves can be generated only by astrophysical sources with varying gravitational mass. Here we show that relativistic fireballs, considered in modelling gamma-ray burst phenomena, are likely to radiate monopole gravitational waves from high-pressure plasma with varying Whittaker's mass. Also, ejection of a significant amount of initial mass-energy of the progenitor contributes to the monopole gravitational radiation. We identify monopole waves with   h 11+ h 22  waves of Eddington's classification which propagate (in the z -direction) together with the energy carried by massless fields. We show that the monopole waves satisfy Einstein's equations, with a common stress-energy tensor for massless fields. The polarization mode of monopole waves is  Φ22  , i.e. these are perpendicular waves which induce changes of the radius of a circle of test particles only (breathing mode). The astrophysical importance of monopole gravitational waves is discussed.  相似文献

Based on the assumption, that potential energy of matter in a mass filled space contributes a negative term to the energy tensor, solutions of the Einstein field equations are possible that exhibit no singularities, since the action of gravity changes sign when the density of potential energy exceeds the density of mass-energy. The solution, in which potential energy and mass-energy are in balance, is identical with Einstein's static universe. It is shown that all the observational facts, that are usually considered as confirming the big bang model, as the cosmological red shift, the abundances of light elements and the existence of the microwave background radiation, can be understood also in a static world model, when it is taken into account that due to the finite velocity of gravitational interaction all moving quanta lose momentum to the gravitational tensor potential. As in the static cosmological model the overwhelming fraction of the total mass exists in form of a hot intergalactic plasma. The model gives a simple explanation for the diffuse x-ray background and a solution to the missing mass problem without invoking any kind of new physics or of yet undiscovered particles. Also the causality problem and the curvature problem posed by the energy density of the quantum mechanical vacuum fields find a natural solution.  相似文献

We obtain equilibrium solutions for rotating compact stars, including special relativistic effects. The gravity is assumed to be Newtonian, but we use the active mass density, which takes into account all energies such as the motion of the fluid, internal energy and pressure energy in addition to the rest-mass energy, in computing the gravitational potential using Poisson's equation. Such a treatment could be applicable to neutron stars with relativistic motions or a relativistic equation of state. We applied Hachisu's self-consistent field (SCF) method to find spheroidal as well as toroidal sequences of equilibrium solutions. Our solutions show better agreement with general relativistic solutions than the Newtonian relativistic hydrodynamic approach, which does not take into account the active mass. Physical quantities such as the peak density and equatorial radii in our solutions agree with the general relativistic ones to within 5 per cent. Therefore our approach can be used as a simple alternative to the fully relativistic one when a large number of model calculations is necessary, as it requires much fewer computational resources.  相似文献

The general relativistic influence on the lag time between continuum and emission line variations in the broad-line is examined. We find that if the primary source region lies within the range of action of a strong gravitational field, the simultaneity surfaces in the ionized gas are different from the surfaces obtained without accounting for the field. It is shown that the determination of distances, from light travel times, from the ionizing source to the gas clouds, depends on the intensity of the gravitational field in the primary emission region.  相似文献

In this paper the expression for the magnitude of the so-called induced force, acting on a mass particle, is deduced. The origin of this force is causally connected to the increase of the rest mass of the particle in the gravitational field.  相似文献

Einstein's equations of general relativity are solved in terms of gravitational potential derivatives, withT equal to mass and/or field energy such thatT 0 outside a body. The line element equation then describes the variance of test particle internal geometrical structure and time-rate due to work done in a field, not the space-time curvature. Specific properties of gravitational fields and bodies come from this new solution: (a) The gravitational field consists of electromagnetic spin 2 gravitons which produce the gravitational force through the magnetic vector. (b) The gravitational mass is the Newtonian mass, not the relativistic mass, of a moving body. (c) An action principle exists in gravitation theory. (d) Attractive gravity exists between matter and antimatter. (e) Unification with quantum physics appears possible.  相似文献

The dynamics of a charged relativistic particle in electromagnetic field of a rotating magnetized celestial body with the magnetic axis inclined to the axis of rotation is studied. The covariant Lagrangian function in the rotating reference frame is found. Effective potential energy is defined on the base of the first integral of motion. The structure of the equipotential surfaces for a relativistic charged particle is studied and depicted for different values of the dipole moment. It is shown that there are trapping regions for the particles of definite energies.

{W}e consider the gravitational radiation from two time variable mass stars, orbiting around each other under the influence of gravity. The total rates of the variation of the energy, angular momentum, semimajor axis, eccentricity and orbital period are obtained. The results could be important for the understanding of general relativistic effects in the case of the variation of the gravitational mass due to spinning down of the compact stars, which sensitively depends on the equations of state. The cases of the binary systems PSR 1913+16 and PSR 1534+12 are analyzed in detail, and, for different equations of state of nuclear matter, the corrections to the orbital decay due to gravitational radiation and to the spinning down of the pulsars are calculated. The results show that a future significant improvement in the observational techniques could lead to the observation of the specific general relativistic effect of mass variation of pulsars due to spinning down, via the study of orbital decay, even in slowly rotating binary systems.  相似文献

An impact model of gravity designed to emulate Newton’s law of gravitation is applied to particles with relative motions at slow and relativistic speeds. Based on this model, a gravitational interaction mode is then conceived between photons and massive particles. This implies a deflection perpendicular to the propagation direction of a photon twice as large as expected from the mass-energy relation of photons—in accordance with observations and the General Theory of Relativity. The longitudinal interaction is compatible with the energy and momentum conservation principles applied to massless entities, and the results are consistent with the observed Shapiro delay.  相似文献

Pulsars are presently believed to be rotating neutron stars with frozen-in magnetic fields. Because of the high density of neutron stars, general relativistic effects are important since they effect both the structure and stability of such stars. Besides this, the magnetic field outside the star is also affected. Instead of falling of asr (2+l) as in flat space, it is shown that each magnetic multipole varies as a hypergeometric function of radius. A closed form of these hypergeometric functions is given in terms of Legendre functions of the second kind. If the mass of a neutron star exceeds about 2.4m , the star becomes unstable and coliapses. For a quasistatically collapsing body, it is shown that the magnetic field seen by a distant observer vanishes as the radius approaches the gravitational radius. This work was supported in part by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Office of Aerospace Research under AFOSR Grant 70-1866.  相似文献

Even when we consider Newtonian stars, that is, stars with surface gravitational redshift   z ≪ 1  , it is well known that, theoretically, it is possible to have stars supported against self-gravity almost entirely by radiation pressure. However, such Newtonian stars must necessarily be supermassive. We point out that this requirement for excessively large M in the Newtonian case is a consequence of the occurrence of low   z ≪ 1  . However, if we remove such restrictions, and allow for the possible occurrence of a highly general relativistic regime,   z ≫ 1  , we show that it is possible to have radiation pressure supported stars (RPSSs) at an arbitrary value of M . Since RPSSs necessarily radiate at the Eddington limit, in Einstein gravity, they are never in strict hydrodynamical equilibrium. Further, it is believed that sufficiently massive or dense objects undergo continued gravitational collapse to the black hole (BH) stage characterized by   z =∞  . Thus, late stages of BH formation, by definition, would have   z ≫ 1  , and hence would be examples of quasi-stable general relativistic RPSSs. It is shown that the observed duration of such Eddington limited radiation pressure dominated states is   t ≈ 5 × 108 (1 + z ) yr  . Thus,   t →∞  as BH formation  ( z →∞)  takes place. Consequently, such radiation pressure dominated extreme general relativistic stars become eternally collapsing objects (ECOs) and the BH state is preceded by such an ECO phase. This result is also supported by our previous finding that trapped surfaces are not formed in gravitational collapse and the value of the integration constant in the vacuum Schwarzschild solution is zero. Hence the supposed observed BHs are actually ECOs.  相似文献

It is shown that Archimedes' principle can be generalized for external gravitational fields due to stationary macroscopic bodies. For instance, a particle immersed in a homogeneous fluid at the centre of spherical symmetry of the fluid, or anywhere in an unbounded homogenous fluid, experiences — in an external field — a force that it would experience in a vacuum if it had an apparent mass less than the actual one by the mass of displaced fluid. Inversely, if one immerses a particle into a symmetrically arranged homogeneous fluid apart from its centre of symmetry, the particle and the fluid produce, at the centre of symmetry of the fluid, a gravitational field that would be produced in vacuo by a particle of the same size and shape but having apparent mass. Simple laboratory experiments, suitable to verify this inverse theorem, are described. On the other hand, the gravitational force between two particles in an infinite homogeneous fluid is reduced by a factor proportional to the product of their apparent masses which can be positive or negative. Two particles with opposite apparent masses repel each other. The results obtained imply corrections to vacuum of the order of (10–5–10–4) G of the gravitational constant,G, measured by the common laboratory methods.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the combined influence of both cosmological and electromagnetic particle creation mechanisms upon massive particles with spin 1/2 on the basis of general covariant Dirac theory.Curved space-time, a radiation-dominated Friedmann universe, is treated as an unquantized gravitational field and the low-frequency part of the 2.7 K background radiation is approximated by homogeneous, constant, and parallel external electric and magnetic fields. We calculate the number density of spin 1/2 particles with massm which are created under the influence of both these external fields. We find that the electric field and the magnetic field both amplify the genuine, purely gravitational particle production. This influence of the magnetic field, which is in contrast to its reducing effect as far as the creation of spin-zero particles is concerned, can clearly be traced back to its coupling to the spin of the particles.Under certain conditions the electromagnetic fields in the early universe can influence the particle creation process even more than the gravitational field.  相似文献
