The Ni, Co, As, and Cu deposit of Gowd-e-Morad is located 20 km northwest of Anarak in Central Iran. In this hydrothermal deposit, mineralization occurs as veins in a fault breccia zone hosted by the Chahgorbeh (schist and metabasite) complex. The main ores are made up of Ni, Co, and Cu arsenides. Petrologic studies and results obtained from geochemical analyses have indicated that the Ni, Co, As, and Cu are derived from ultramafic rocks while Pb and Zn are likely to be derived from schist. Based on the geochemical evidence, particularly the high correlation between Ni, Co, and As, it is proposed that this deposit be categorized as a “five elements” mineral deposit. Fluid inclusion studies have shown homogenization temperatures (TH) in the range 113?206 ?C and salinity 3?13.5 % wt eq. NaCl. Therefore this “five elements” mineral deposit has been determined as a low temperature, epithermal deposit type. It is proposed that the low fluid temperatures are a result of an environment of formation which was distal to a volcanogenic source systems and the major influence of meteoric waters in the hydrothermal system.  相似文献

The F–(Ba–Pb–Zn) ore deposits of the Zaghouan District, located in NE Tunisia, occur as open space fillings or stratabound orebodies, hosted in Jurassic, Cretaceous and Tertiary layers. The chondrite-normalized rare earth element (REE) patterns may be split into three groups: (i) “Normal marine” patterns characterizing the wallrock carbonates; (ii) light REE (LREE) enriched (slide-shaped) patterns with respect to heavy REE (HREE), with small negative Ce and Eu anomalies, characteristic of the early ore stages; (iii) Bell-shaped REE patterns displaying LREE depletion, as well as weak negative Ce and Eu anomalies, characterizing residual fluids of subsequent stages. The 87Sr/86Sr ratios (0.707654–0.708127 ± 8), show that the Sr of the epigenetic carbonates (dolomite, calcite) and ore minerals (fluorite, celestite) are more radiogenic than those of the country (Triassic, Jurassic, Cretaceous, lower Miocene) sedimentary rocks. The uniformity of this ratio, throughout the District, provides evidence for the isotopic homogeneity and, consequently, the identity of the source of the mineralizing fluids. This signature strongly suggests that the radiogenic Sr is carried by Upper Paleozoic basinal fluids.The δ34S values of barite, associated to mineralizations, are close to those of the Triassic sea water (17‰). The δ34S values of sulfide minerals range from − 13.6‰ to + 11.4‰, suggesting two sulfur-reduced end members (BSR/TSR) with a dominant BSR process.Taking account of the homogeneity in the Pb-isotope composition of galenas (18.833–18.954 ± 0.001, 15.679–15.700 ± 0.001 and 38.690–38.880 ± 0.004, for the 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb and 208Pb/204Pb ratios respectively), a single upper crustal source for base-metals is accepted. The Late Paleozoic basement seems to be the more plausible source for F–Pb–Zn concentrated in the deposits. The genesis of the Zaghouan District ore deposits is considered as the result of the Zaghouan Fault reactivation during the Late Miocene period.  相似文献

The Late-Cretaceous Catalão I contains stockworks of thin dykes of phoscorite-series rocks, which can be subdivided into P1 (olivine-bearing, phoscorites) and P2/P3 (olivine-lacking, nelsonites). Dolomite carbonatites (DC) are intimately associated with nelsonites, as pockets and dykes. The P2 apatite nelsonite, the P3 magnetite nelsonite, and, to a lesser extent DC, host the Catalão I niobium mineralization. C–O isotopes signatures in carbonates reveal several distinct magmatic and post-magmatic processes. Limpid carbonates with stable isotopic mantle-like composition show Rayleigh fractionation and are interpreted as primary, while those with brittle-turbid aspect, and higher oxygen isotope composition, probably underwent recrystallization by interaction with H2O-rich fluids. A group of samples shows higher oxygen compositions and lower carbon values, which could be explained by degassing of carbonatite magma during cooling. A degassing pattern, parallel to magmatic degassing but at higher oxygen and lower carbon compositions, observed in carbonate veins, may indicate degassing of fracture filling fluids. Furthermore, C–O isotopes of carbonate from monazite-bearing carbonatite have a positive correlation, indicating a distinct, late-stage carbo-hydrothermal event. Though the Catalão I nelsonites and phoscorites are of igneous origin, they underwent several post-magmatic events, which sometimes overprinted partially or entirely the magmatic isotope signature.  相似文献

The Lower Cretaceous volcanic formations of Copiapó (Chile) host major stratiform, disseminated, vein, and stockwork mineral deposits. Among these are the Punta del Cobre district (Cu-Fe) and the neighbouring, large Candelaria deposit (Cu-Fe-Au). These deposits are likely to have formed during a major extensional event that was accompanied by granitoid emplacement that triggered important contact metamorphism, metasomatic activity and mineralization processes. We suggest here that alteration-mineralization processes developed within the upper-plate domain of a NNE-trending, ESE-dipping extensional system, while granitoids were accomodated within the lower-plate. If this model prove to be right, `Candelaria-type' deposits may be hidden beneath the present, higher structural position of the Punta del Cobre district. Baumgartner and Rumble (1988) apply a kinetic continuum theory for stable isotope transport to unidimensional infiltration of fluid into rock. Their numerical applications are restricted to the simplified case of rapid isotope exchange between phases, where the sharp isotope fronts of pure advection are distended by dispersive mechanisms only. However, kinetic limitations of isotope exchange are potentially an equally important distending mechanism, and it will only rarely be possible to ascribe front gradients to diffusion/dispersion alone. Abrupt isotopic changes at vein boundaries are more often a secondary signal of lithologic change than the expression of a retarded advective front. At such boundaries, diffusion and dispersion play a role that is comparable to, or greater than, that of advection, so that the detailed shapes of isotope fronts depend upon boundary conditions for the infiltration process. Zerodimensional box models have legitimate, if limited, uses in the modelling of fluid-rock interaction, and are reexamined.  相似文献

The Rodderberg volcanic complex (RVC) is located within the city limits of Bonn (Germany) approximately 20 km to the north of the Quaternary East Eifel Volcanic Field (EEVF). It is the product of intense phreatomagmatic volcanism forming a 90 m deep maar crater and strombolian eruptions. Deposit features indicate that the location of the vent(s) shifted from N to S during the strombolian phase. The erupted leucite-nephelinite magma (on the order of ca. 1 × 10−2 km3) was largely homogenous with minor, stratigraphically controlled, variation in olivine and clinopyroxene microphenocryst content. Stratigraphic evidence and thermoluminescence dating indicate that the RVC erupted during the glacial MIS 8 at around 300 ka. During this time, the EEVF experienced a transitional stage between two major phases of volcanic activity involving a change in magma sources. This is consistent with the RVC geochemical data which show affinities to both the older EEVF leucite-nephelinite association (430–380 ka) and the younger basanite association (<215 ka). In the Eifel, magma ascent through the upper crust is apparently linked to tectonic fractures. It may be speculated that a tectonically controlled diking event channeled magma to the north of the main EEVF and that the RVC represents an exceptional surficial expression of a significantly larger subsurface intrusion. This scenario would be consistent with recent observations of diking-related volcanism in the East African Rift zone and previously inferred models for magma ascent in similar intraplate volcanic fields.  相似文献

In the Dragon Belly cave helictites, a special type of irregular speleothem, are found, which grew on stalactites in all vertical and horizontal directions without any affinity to gravity. Microstructural and mineralogical analyses of this stalactite–helictite system indicate that its evolution is initiated by clogging of the central stalactite channel at its tip, probably when the cave was flooded by muddy water. Clogging caused the formation of secondary channels (≈0.2 mm in diameter) for water passage through the outer surface of the stalactite, where helictites start to grow. The secondary channel passes into the central channel of the helictite.The helictites consist of stacked idiomorphic calcite crystals with uniform orientation. Growth of calcite is essentially controlled by water transfer through the central channel and via canalicules (narrow channels of ≈0.05 mm in diameter) following the crystal boundaries of the calcite mesocrystal induced by capillary hydrostatic forces. At straight parts of the helictites calcite crystals are almost uniform in size, but at bended parts crystals are significantly smaller inside (≤0.1 mm in length) than outside of the bend (≤0.5 mm). It is proposed that the difference in calcite volume (larger crystals) vs. the inside of the bend leads to a helix form, which explains the origin of the term helictite.The Sr and Ba concentrations measured by laser ablation along helictites can be explained by cation incorporation during calcite precipitation close to equilibrium. Dilution effects caused by seasonality control the elemental distribution in the helictite, which result in a positive correlation between Sr and Ba. Variability of Mg is unrelated with Sr and Ba, and is probably due to the incongruent dissolution of Mg–calcite from the host rock.  相似文献

The boundary separating Maastrichtian Sharwayn Formation from late Paleocene Eocene Umm Er Radhuma (UER) Formation in Dhofar, southern Oman, is characterized by a regionally extensive unconformity. The Jabal Samhan escarpment, north of Marbat-Sadh transect, preserves this unconformable boundary. This paper addresses the lithologic and diagenetic differences of the strata across the boundary and discusses their significance and link to the development of the upper Maastrichtian to lower Paleocene unconformity. The upper part of the Sharwayn Formation is characterized by lower thickly bedded, bioclastic, and peloidal mudstone to wackestone lithofacies overlain by a thick ledge (~5.5 m) of medium to coarse crystalline, (sucrosic) dolostone. Poorly preserved outlines of the framework grains suggest an original peloidal and bioclastic grainstone texture for the dolostone unit. The contact with the overlying UER Formation is sharp. The UER Formation is characterized by thickly bedded, bioclastic mudstone to wackestone overlain by coarse-grained, foraminiferal grainstone. The dolomitization process of the dolomite unit at the top of the Sharwayn Formation is envisaged to a shallow subsurface mixed meteoric and sea water diagenetic realm. This interpretation is supported by an inferred timing of dolomitization of latest Maastrichtian (post-Sharwayn Formation) to early Paleocene (pre-EUR Formation), preservation (although poorly recognizable) of the original depositional texture and diagenetic features that postdate the sucrosic dolomite. Pervasive dolomitization of the dolomite unit was controlled by its original grainstone texture, which permitted efficient percolation of the dolomitizing fluids. Correlation between the reference section of the formation and the section studied in this work raises the thickness of the formation to 28.5 m (relative to a thickness of 22 m at the reference section). Analysis of the new composite section suggests that deposition of the formation took place in a shallowing-upward setting where low-energy subtidal sediments (the lower limestone unit) were succeeded by a high energy sand shoal (upper dolomitized unit).This shallowing-upward succession is attributed to a third-order sea-level drop. The later is also recognized in many parts of the Arabian Peninsula, as well as globally, and interpreted as eustatic sea-level fluctuation.  相似文献

The Kaoping (Taiwan) and Kapuas (Indonesia) Rivers differ in hydrological cycle, topography and landscape. These differences strengthen the use of 14C dating, lignin-derived phenols, δ13C values and C/N ratios to determine the sources and diagenesis of surface sedimentary organic carbon (OC) in both rivers. The Kapuas River is surrounded by forest, resulting in sedimentary OC with a 14C age between 600 and 740 years, Λ (total lignin expressed as mg/100 mg OC) values from 0.94 to 3.70, δ13C values from −27.87 to −30.00‰, C/N ratios from 6.7 to 30.8, %OC from 0.63 to 9.24% and vanillic acid to vanillin ratio, (Ad/Al)v, values from 0.73 to 2.09, all of which indicate the presence of recent plant-derived organic matter. The tributaries and three locations upstream of the Kaoping River are also surrounded by forests, resulting in Λ values (0.51–4.80), δ13C values (−23.85 to −27.08‰), C/N ratios (14.1–28.7), %OC (1.01–7.86%) and (Ad/Al)v values (0.86–1.88), which are indicative of a terrestrial signal. No lignin oxidation products were detected in the mainstream of the Kaoping River or its coastal zone, hence the surface sediments OC with a 14C age between 4,915 and 15,870 years, enriched δ13C values (−23.30 and −26.54‰), lower C/N ratios (6.0–17.5) and lower %OC (0.15–2.24%) likely represent old rock and soil material. Massive floods during typhoons most probably cause plant materials from the Kaoping River and its coastal zone to be transported into the deep sea.  相似文献

We compare several statistical routines that may be used to calculate δ18Osw and SSS from paired coral Sr/Ca and δ18O measurements. Typically, the δ18Ocoral-SST relationship is estimated by linear regression of coral δ18O vs. SST. If this method is applied, evidence should be given that at a particular site SST and SSS do not co-vary. In the tropical oceans, SST and δ18Osw (SSS) often co-vary, and this will bias the estimate of the regression slope of δ18Ocoral-SST. Using a stochastic model, we show that covariance leads to a bias in the coefficients of the univariate regression equations. As the slope of the δ18Ocoral-SST relationship has known, we propose to insert this value for γ1 in the regression models. This requires that the constants of the regression equations are removed. To omit the constants, we propose to center the regression equations (i.e., to remove the mean values from the variables). The statistical error propagation is calculated to assess our ability to resolve past variations in δ18Osw (SSS). At Tahiti, we find that the combined analytical uncertainties of coral δ18O and Sr/Ca equal the amplitude of the seasonal cycle of δ18Osw (SSS). Therefore, we cannot resolve the seasonal cycle of SSS at Tahiti. At Timor, the error of reconstructed δ18Osw (SSS) is lower than the magnitude of seasonal variations of δ18Osw (SSS), and the seasonal cycle of δ18Osw (SSS) can be resolved.  相似文献

The variations in the structural, textural, mineralogical, and geochemical (isotope) features of Lower to Middle Jurassic siliciclastic sediments along the Chanty-Argun River in Mountainous Chechnya and Georgia are discussed. This profile transects areas with various types of deformed sediments, from the northern comparatively weakly deformed and altered zone, to the southern zone of intense deformation and cleavage. Southward along the profile, these alterations are accompanied by the evolution of clay mineral assemblages, as well as polytypic modifications of micas and their crystallinity index. Increasing intensity of rock alteration and cleavage leads to a change of the K–Ar system, which results in a substantially rejuvenated isotope age of the sediments with a simultaneous increase of their stratigraphic age.  相似文献

The Itataia phosphate-uranium deposit is located in Santa Quitéria, in central Ceará State, northeastern Brazil. Mineralization has occurred in different stages and involves quartz leaching (episyenitization), brecciation and microcrystalline phase formation of concretionary apatite. The last constitutes the main mineral of Itatiaia uranium ore, namely collophane. Collophanite ore occurs in massive bodies, lenses, breccia zones, veins or episyenite in marble layers, calc-silicate rocks and gneisses of the Itataia Group.There are two accepted theories on the origin of the earliest mineralization phase of Itataia ore: syngenetic (primary) – where the ore is derived from a continental source and then deposited in marine and coastal environments; and epigenetic (secondary) – whereby the fluids are of magmatic, metamorphic and meteoric origin. The characterization of pre- or post-deformational mineralization is controversial, since the features of the ore are interpreted as deformation.This investigation conducted isotopic studies and chemical analyses of minerals in marbles and calc-silicate rocks of the Alcantil and Barrigas Formations (Itataia Group), as well as petrographic and structural studies. Analysis of the thin sections shows at least three phosphate mineral phases associated with uranium mineralizaton: (1) A prismatic fluorapatite phase associated with chess-board albite, arfvedsonite and ferro-eckermannite; (2) a second fluorapatite phase with fibrous radial or colloform habits that replaces calcium carbonate in marble, especially along fractures, with minerals such as quartz, chlorite and zeolite also identified in calc-silicate rocks; and (3) an younger phosphate phase of botryoidal apatite (fluorapatite and hydroxyapatite) related with clay minerals and probably others calcium and aluminum phosphates. Detailed isotopic analysis carried out perpendicularly to the mineralized levels and veins in the marble revealed significant variation in isotopic ratios. Mineralized zones exhibit a decrease in δ13C and δ18O isotope values and a higher 87Sr/86Sr ratio toward the center of the vein. In conjunction with petrographic studies, these changes contesting the hypothesis of a sedimentary origin for uranium and suggest a radiogenic Sr input by alkaline to peralkaline fluids from fertile granites of the end of Brasiliano/Pan-African orogeny, located outside the deposit. The origin of the phosphorous is associated with phosphorite deposits in the same depositional environment of the neoproterozoic supracrustal quartz-pelite-carbonate sediments of the Itataia Group.Considering the studies conducted here and available geological data, three main mineralizing events can be identified in Itataia: (1) an initial high temperature event connected with a sodium metasomatism-related uranium episode, taking place in Borborema Province and its African counterpart; (2) a second lower temperature stage, consisting of a multiphase cataclastic/hydrothermal event limited to fault and paleokarst zones; and (3) a third and final event, developed in frankly oxidizing conditions.
