The 5th International Symposium on the Tibetan Plateau/The 24th Himalaya - Karakorum-Tibet Workshop Joint Conference was held on August 11-14 in Beijing, China. The Joint Conference was hosted by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), The Ministry of Land and Resources of China (MLR) and People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR). Organized by Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research, CAS (ITPCAS), Institute of Geology, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (IGCAGS), The China Society on Tibetan Plateau (CSTP), Department of Science and Technology, TAR, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, CAS (IGSNRR), International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD).

正Under the auspices of the Geographical Society of China and Sun Yat-sen University,the 4th Asian Conference on Geography was held from December 6th-10th,2018 in Guangzhou,China.Under the theme of"Rising Asia and Our Geography",the conference attracted over 500 participants from 27 countries(regions) worldwide,including 21 from Asia.

The 8th International Riversymposium was held in Brisbane, Australia on 6-9 September 2005. The International Riversymposium is an integral part of Brisbane's annual broadbased cultural event.The Queensland Government is a foundation partner of the International River Foundation, formed to secure the future of the International and National Thiess Riverprize. The theme of symposium in this year is "Water and Food Security- Rivers in a Global Context" ( www.riversymposium.com ).The Riversymposium provides a global forum which aims to make a difference to the declining state of rivers and waterways globally. Its strength lies in the breadth of its challenging program content of important keynote presentations and case studies of rivers in crisis, attracting a diverse range of national and international delegates. Some 450 scientists from 38 countries attended this conference, and about 100 papers were presented on the symposium in 2005.

"拓展亚洲国际河流跨境水与生态安全合作"国际学术研讨会在大理召开

The International Workshop on "Expanding Transboundary Cooperation for Water and Environment Security in Asia's International Rivers" was held on December 10-14, 2005, Dali, Yunnan, China. It was organized by Tsinghua University, the World Bank Institute (WBI), the United Nations University (UNU) and Asian International Rivers Center (AIRC). A total of over 60 scholars from the USA, Canada, Australia, Finland, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, India, Sri Lanka, Iran and China participated in this workshop. The topics include seeking reasonable utilization and sustainable conflict resolutions related to transboundary water resources, and transboundary eco-security maintenance; expanding cooperation between Asia and the rest of the world on international river issues, identifying potential opportunities; and possibility of a common research agenda for addressing environment changes in Mekong River Basin.
