喜马拉雅弧形山系及其邻近地区现代构造应力分析
THE ANALYSIS OF THE RECENT TECTONIC STRESS OF THE HIMALAYA MOUNTAINS ARC AND ITS VICINITIES

摘要: 前言宏伟的喜马拉雅山系,呈向南突出的弧形,屹立在我国西藏高原的南缘。它的主脊线上有一系列举世瞩目的高峰,比山系南侧的印度恒河平原高出八千多米。这样剧烈的地形高差,是地球表面结构上最引人注目的现象之一。地质证据表明:喜马拉雅山系是在老第三纪晚期,从古地中海中升起的。Abstract: In this paper the recent tectonic stress of the Himalaya mountains arc and its vicinities is analysed, basig on the data both from the earthquake foci mechanism and the features of the geologic structure of these regions.Therefore three main conclusions are drawn as follows:1. In the lower part of the lithosphere beneath these regions, the axis of the principle compressional stress is in the NNE-SSW direction, that is probably caused by the movement of the Indian Plate towards north.2. In the upper part of the lithosphere, the axis of the principle compressional stress is perpendicular to the strike in the outer part of the are and parallel to the strike in the inner part, that is possibly controlled by the bending mechanism in the course of formation of arc structure.3. The Himalaya arc, the Burma arc and the Baluchistan arc are resulted from the layergliding caused by the underthrusting of the drifting northward Indian Plate.
