Abstract:
The Doppler weather radar VWP products have been used to analysis the heavy rainstorm weather on July 13-14, 2008, in Zhengzhou. The results showed that : (1) The existence of boundary layer convergence line in favor of the formation of storm clouds; the production of super low-level jet increase the transfer of water vapor and provide the favorable conditions for the development of storm cloud; and the intensification of the easterly flow in the bottom layer provide the lifting conditions for the convection trigger; (2) The integrated analysis of many radar VWP productions can catch the mesoscale and microscale system which conduced the convective weather; (3) The variation tendency of storm-relative helicity (SRH) increase rapidly, stability and reduced is corresponded with the increase, maintenance and reduced of rainfall intensity, but the size of SRH values is not consistent with the rainfall intensity; (4) The case analysis and application indicate that VWP products of radar provide high temporal resolution wind field information, and provide more extensive reference information for short term forecasting and nowcasting of severe rainfall.
